Default well i bought a system

4X 5X7'S, 2 TYPE S 12 incch subs in alpine enclosure. 1 mono Vpower amp 650watt rms, and one Vpower 4chan amp 4x50rms. 1500 fully installed in 2 weeks bit of a wait but there busy. I have stayed with the factory headunit at the moment cos the guy said i didnt need to change it cos i have a amp to power the speakers and provide clear sound.

Hmm the head unit doesn't have preouts so that means he will be cutting into the speaker lines that are already there

Hope it all sounds ok and the "amplified-deamplified-amplified" signal isn't distorted.

he said it wont make a difference cos im running the wiring through the amplifier . It all gets a bit confusing for me but i want it to sound mad like it should. I bought deadening for my whole boot this week as well so it will help on top.

Nice work mate. Its an awesome feeling listening to your new stereo in your own car for the first time. Makes driving completely different (and louder)

Enjoy it mate!

Yeah if it's quality your after then you'll want another head unit, if it's spl then no preouts will be fine

What happens is they cut into the speaker lines (which is an amplified signal from the head unit), use an adapter to convert it to a coax connection and lower the volume, then feed that into the amplifier to get amplified again and run it back to the speakers

It's fine for the subs but for the mid and tweeters it's less than ideal. If your spending 1500 already it might be worth looking into

the system went in today. sounds fantastic, the only thing is im getting a little interferance as expected cos of the factory headunit. so i'll be changing it shortly i didnt wanna do it but it has to go. The guy that installed it put the power distrubition box right behind where the back seats fold close and it hits and yes my seats dont shut properly at the back. so im taking it back cos im ****ed at that cos i just sat in the back and broke the mount for. bloody idiots. if i touch it the guy said the warrany is gone!!!!

Yes, I enquired about this. Costs about $200, plus installation. For $250+ I'm happy to keep twirling the volume knob.

Anyway, the one button Ford should have put on the steering wheel, and didn't, was a mute button. Knobs. Whatever head unit you buy, make sure it's got a mute button. Saves a lot of aggravation when you want to answer the phone.

Not that im a big music head in the car anyway , but i have found with the 'LOUD' (extra bass) button on and treble set to 6 and the bass set to 3, it actually doesn't sound to bad for a stock radio anyway , its enough clear pumping bass to shake the back windscreen and rear vision mirror / while still maintaining clear sound .

yeah the bass is mad these alpine subs pump.. My parcel shelf 5x7's have stopped working for sum reason, so i rang them and im taking it back there on tuesday, im ****ed its been giving me headache trying to figure out wats wrong already. I asked them to put the dynamat that i had on for me around the front speaker holes but they didnt do it, They had the bloody car for over half the day surely a 10 min job wouldnt hurt. Ive got a bad parcel shelf vibration as well and i mean bad it only started last nite so i have to find that and kill it.

ive sound proofed most of the boot, the boot lid, floor, wheel arches, are you ment to sound proof the parcel shelf area? i didnnt think it mattered! i just tried to figure out where its coming from then and i cant find it, its got me beat at the mminute. It sounds like it could be the glass. i thought one of the 5x7 speakers had come lose in the parcel shelf cos the vibration is very sharp and quick like steel vibrating together, they seem tight.

The problem I had was similar to yours. I found it was/is the ball bearing within the centre lap seatbelt tensioner was the culprit. Remove the parcel shelf and the tensioner and you will see what I am on about.

yeah its preety good. Ilkie the pioneer h/u thou. i will do it at christmas time if i can wait. Im taking it back to get the problem sorted about the rear speakers. i havent really been punching it that much cos everything is still new. i tell ya theres a fair bit of weight in the back now can feel the car struggles a little to get going. the new headunit will allow me to tune it properly as well so thats the biggest plus i think to get the most out of the whole system. the car sits lower at the back and im really thinking of lowering the front to ultra low it looks so un-even with a full tank of juice.
