Hi Guys
I have an AU1 supercharged 6 with an Auto. Looking for anyone who has done some work to the box. Im thinking about doing some extra strengthening, but have heard that you cant strenghten these boxes. suggestions ideas etc all welcome. My gears do slip occasionally, but its getting a bit more frequent and theres lag between gear changes at high revs. I have a cooler and have changed the pressure (using an edit) of the fluid lines in the box. If anyone knows the power rating/torque rating that these things could handle would be handy too.

Whoever told you that you can't strengthen these boxes is talking crap. Talk to Casper about it his box is probably as strong as any you'll ever find in an AU.
Edit: Not sure on the exact figures of what the boxes can handle but mine is handling my 347 really well and I don't think there is much, if any, difference between the 6 and 8 boxes strength wise.

I'm also interested, the box behind my 347 has seen better days, and was only rebuild a year ago!

My BTR is rated at 600hp.. thats stong enough to cope with next to anything I choose to throw at it in the future.
CAMS290's box is basically the same deal as mine (more or less) and is coping with an 11 second Boss engine revving its brains out and snapshifting gears. Talk to Matt at G&D, he knows everything you need to want to know about these builds as he arranged both Cams and mine.

How much did it cost to upgrade the box? Just out of interest.

over $3000.. and then a few extra bits like custom stall and tuning.
Matt will give you an accurate price.
