Default Steering shudder

G'day all, I was maneuvering around a woolies carpark today and noticed that while spinning the steering wheel hard left at a fair clip from the right( as opposed to the centre), I could feel a shudder feedback through the wheel for about half a turn about mid cycle. This isn't the first time I've felt it but it is the first time I took notice. So now I'm wondering if my steering rack is on the way out or is it just one of those anomalous harmless glitches that are common in the AU? Should I be worried and start looking for a replacement rack or is it one of those things that'll never get any worse that you just learn to live with?

Cheers

It's normal in Falcons. Ford actually changed the power steering fluid from the normal stuff to a light hydraulic oil to try and stop it...Failed.

Recently my Son had to change his high pressure power steering hose on his AUII XR6 because it was leaking at the pump connection. He ended up buying one off eBay which was a lot thicker than the standard hose, and it fixed his parking speed shudder completely.

Unless yours is actually leaking fluid or making abnormal noises, then I wouldn't bother worring about too much only to keep an eye on it.

Thanks guys, that makes me feel a whole lot better. The fluid is at the right level and there are no other symptoms so I guess I'll get used to it and worry about fixing it if something springs a leak.

Cheers
