I have seen a few around Perth, was going to get one my-self but get the Turbo instead.
Personally I like the U.S ranger better. |

Good, Feb was around 263 Rangers and 130 Couriers.
Have a family guy I know with a white XL 3.0 Dual cab, loves it and a workmate is waiting on his navy Dual cab XLT 3.0 Auto with HD Tow to arrive having traded in an 04 XR8 Auto. Single guy with big boat to tow. |

Yeah but Hilux is selling like a storm just because it’s a Hilux, even thou it should rely be called a low Lux now, as they trimmed like 4-inches of ground clearance off it and the front end looks like a smashed Sand Crab LOL

The Rodeo apparently is a real piece of ****.
The Hilux lasts forever though and when you're a tradesman, you want a car that can take a beating. Toyotas have a good track record. Prior to the Ranger, my first choice for a car in the class would have been a Hilux. I hope for Ford's sake that the Courier a) is good and b) Sells. |

I had a good look at one the other day. I thought that it was a pretty good looking truck for a mid sized soft roader.

Remember the Top Gear Episode on destroying a Hilux that wouldn't die. That is the realiability Ford should be aiming for.

But isn't it a Mazda product simply rebadged?

The Ranger and the BT-50 are made in the same factory in Thailand. They are far from 'rebadged' although under the very different sheetmetal lurks the same mechanicals.
I've driven both the 2.5 and the 3.0 litre and they are both great, moreso the 3.0L. Plenty of low and mid range grunt - you'd never know it was an oil burner! Apparently LCV Australia Magazine #9 has a comparo between the Mazda and the Ford. Worth a read. They've also got some drawings of a tricked up Ranger that Ford Australia are considering. |

Had another look at Feb VFacts and that was only the 4wd numbers about the same again for 4x2 So about 6% of the market segment. |

The ranger has a new twincam headed mazda engine, Ford explorer 5spd auto, mazda manual, Ford rear diff. Abit of a Ford mazda bitsa, but the diesel goes like a rocket and tows well. My boss towed his mustang race car to Adelaide a couple of weeks back and got 16l-100 at 120k's! Time will tell how good they really are when they get flogged by farmers and drivers of fleet vehicles.
