Default wats an easy way to do plug leads

does anyone know an easy way of changing the plug leads in an au falcon?

buy one with them already on there......

or get them installed.....apparently on a hoist is easy i cant see how

all i did was remove the CAI upto the throttle body and stretch my arm under there and install each individually

remove the bottom half of the airbox then you can reach your hand in easily to the coil.

Yeap that is how it's done

I've said it before; hardest thing about it is if it's the first time being done you need to cut some cable ties.

After that it's nice and easy. Just do one at a time so you can't stuff it up

Are they like the EF with the 3-coil pack under the manifold?

I found the first time I tried to change just one lead it was very difficult. Next time I removed the air filter box and found it was easier to remove the coil pack screws and remove the coil pack with leads still attached out through the front. Then changed the leads off the car - easy - then tied long piece of string to each group of leads, passed the string through the gaps in the inlet manifold, and pulled all the leads through as I passed the coil pack back into position, then put the screws back in the coil pack. Much easier!

I got someone to feed them down to me while I was under the car, once you get your arm in teh right spot it was easy to do them 1 by 1

I agree, one by one and do it by feel instead of trying to look. I was able to get to them all by taking off the snorkel only, but I have kind of long arms.

If you can get some one to help this way is very easy and quick. When I did a mates we pulled them out and cable tied them as factory and fed them down. Didn't take long at all.

i find the quickest and easiest way is to remove your snorkel and fan shroud and put your arm parralel to the rocker cover and under the plenum chamberand pull all the leads off. them feed one through one at a time.. the setup is like so:

according to BOSCH...plugs and leads suit each model (std AU inc XR6 VCT's so i assume that means the coil packs are the same and they take the same plugs)

I'm led to believe ( according to Ford ) that AU2s manufactured before 12/2000 used the same plugs and leads regardless of motor but AU2s manufactured after 12/2000 used different plugs for the VCT. My compliance plate says 11/2000 so may be borderline either way.

I just changed mine today, easy. get your car on ramps and have a mate feed n swap the new leads to you, while you plug them into the module. it looks a lot harder than it is.
