Trust me to post it.
I actually got stuff for free today! Went in to grab one of those plates that go over the clutch cable on XD/XE/XF, asked the fat guy how much he wanted for it "Ah don't worry about it, we'll call it a bonus". So now I have the stupid thing, has anyone else fitted one to prevent the firewall crack? It's just a plate with a tube in the middle of it, however the tube is the same size as the tube on the firewall. Cut it out and stick a bigger tube in? Cut it out and just whack the plate on? And a HEAP of EF/ELs there now, but still no seat belts. Do the rear seat belts go into the front? Time to experiment. |

I think they actually give stuff for free now because you have to pay to get in.
There used to be a minimum charge of $1 for any purchase (even tiny little ones). But because you now pay to get in, i think they wave the minimum charge. |

At least they have somewhere to put stuff down now.
It used to suck trying to balance all the stuff you just bought, all the stuff you "got for free", get your wallet out, and pay the money all at the same time. Quite comical when you're an onlooker though. lol |

Rob, the easiest and best way to fix it would be to make up a plate like what i have done, and just pop rivet or bolt it onto the inside of the firewall.

Or otherwise just wait until it cracks, and then do something about it.
Hell, mine took 220,000kms before it let go |

Yeah but I might as well fix it before it happens. Besides, I got the parts for free!

Yes, but the problem with using the XD bracket is that the tubing is the same size.
So if you really want to prevent it, make up a plate like mine, but attach it onto the inside of the firewall, this will take the load off the flat part of the firewall (which is what cracks) |
