Default Q: Repairable Write-Offs into NSW

I’m fully aware of the NSW exclusion of re-registering repairable write-offs compared to other states.

However - if you own a repairable write-off that you have repaired and compliantly re-registered outside NSW, and it later suits you to move the car to NSW - can it then be registered in that state?

Cant see why not, if the vehicle has passed the WOVR, it is no longer on the register as a write off, it is then a certified repaired write off, it will still come up if you do a REV's check, but it is classified as a repaired write off.

If you then took it to be registered in NSW, it would only have to meet the requirement of registering a out of state vehicle as it was previously registered in the other state.

Cheers. I’d somehow missed that page on the NSW site.

You know this is all your fault, right?

Wasn’t the NSW thing with RWOs to prevent shops buying them to rebirth stolen vehicles.
If you’re all above board, there shouldn’t be any problems registering once repaired.

Getting insurance on a repaired write off, I assume that an insurance has previously paid
out on the vehicle, does that mean it has a black mark against it?

Not sure. I’ve previously insured a repaired write-off for agreed value (Lumleys), but I let that policy lapse as the car needs a new clutch. Will be interested to see if it affects reinsurance when drivable again.

Nope, I have 5 cars all repaired write off's, all comprehensively insured for full market value.

Once the car has been repaired and passed, it no different to someone's car that has been repaired by their insurance after a accident, the only stigma that is attached to repairable write off is that people think that they have to have been destroyed for them to be written off, My RTV Ute was written off as it was a stolen recovered vehicle, it had 2 broken door glasses and I had to have the LPG tanks inspected.

Of course, thank you.
A repairable write off is simply the insurance company not wanting to spend money on repairs.
