Curious as to your fuel consumption if you have a TDCi. Please note what type of driving you mainly do.
PS Sorry, didn't get the ranges quite right but can't change them now. Should be x.0 - x.4 and x.5 - x.9.

We are averaging between 6.9 and 7.1 - calculated off bowser and mileage readings over 12,000km mainly on secondary country roads but also short city trips. Probably a 4:1 split.
Best was 6.1l/100km. Worst was 8.5l/100km (first tank) Really happy with the fuel consumption! |

It is different in Europe where they currently have 3 different power outputs for the 2.0 TDCi but all have the same fuel consumption.

We have only filled up twice. First tank was 5.9 ltr/100 with a mix of 50/50 hwy/city driving. Second tank was 6.9 ltr/100 with mostly short trip style driving and a couple of freeway runs.

There are many more factors that affect fuel consumption than just the state of tune - for example driving style, prevailing conditions like wind and temperature, road and terrain conditions - hilly or flat, distance travelled between stops, amouint of passengers and cargo on board. Not that it means much but I think that the 120kW engine actually has the lowest advertised fuel consumption - which I think is due to the powershift transmission. |

I'm just curious as to what sort of economy people get in the Real World. Yes, the MC should be much more economical as the engine has also been changed and now meets Euro V.

Diesel fuel went up yesterday to $1.39/ltr and I love the approx 6.3 l/100km I get.
I'll be changing over vehicles at the end of the year and then the wife will get the car. I expect the fuel to last for months then between fill-ups.

My MA is spot on the nominated average consumption of 7.6 l/100 km but on the highway it has been down to 6.0.

Here's my last three fill ups, this is mainly city driving. I drive a minimum of 32 kms four days a week, this is peak hour, and the rest is weekend driving. I rarely drive at night, and in this would be one highway trip of 400+kms.
03-Feb-11 56026.4 747.9 $87.30 $1.369 63.77 8.5 15-Feb-11 56690.4 664.0 $76.00 $1.369 55.51 8.4 24-Feb-11 57297.1 606.7 $80.00 $1.389 57.60 9.5 The columns left to right are: Date of fill up Total kilometres Kilometres done since last fill Total cost of fuel Price per litre Amount of diesel put in Average litre/100kms.

interesting to read about the consumption,
mine does in Metro Sydney driving around 6.5l, and I get cranky if it gets up to 7.0l. and no, I am not a slow poke on the road On a trip to Canberra I averaged 5.8l, which is great. I got a loan car when mine was in Service at Sinclair Ford, it was a current model XR6 and it averaged 13.5l in metro. thats what I call Trip Computer Shock!

Which becomes Wallet Shock when you pay for it!
95 is well over $2 per litre in NZ, and the last tank I put in my petrol Mondeo cost over $140. It costs over $40 to fill the motorbike with Ultimate, and it's not going to get any better.

Just halfway through the first tank but 7.6 l/100 (and dropping) is very creditable for a commuting mix of slow traffic and freeway. A huge relief at current (rising ?) prices after an 80,000km experience with Craptiva....
over the same trip, 9.0 during school hols, up to 12.3 in "normal" traffic...all on diesel :( |

mostly doing suburban driving and the normal average is approx 7.7 ltrs/100. Even on a long run it doesn't drop down much less than 7.0
I'm still a far bit miffed that the fuel econ is pretty poor. Other family members had older model mondo diesels and pretty much always got 5.6 ~ 6.0 !!!

I managed 6.7 l/100 km on a trip when the car was brand new, so I'm hoping to get close to 6 once it's run in.

I've just come back from a 300 km round trip, mostly motorway but some city and back road driving. Averaged 5.8 l/100km on the first half of the journey, which increased to 6.1 l/100km after driving into a strong headwind on the way home. Really happy with that, especially given that mine has a normal auto and still hasn't done 1,000 km.

The fuel economy gets better over the long term. I just sat in a two hour queue yesterday while waiting patiently to exit the Avalon Airshow. The tank showed only a quarter full when leaving but the diesel just chugged away happily the whole time and after I drove another 120KM to get home I still had an 1/8th of a tank. 'What me worry?' If I still had the Territory I would have panicked big time.

After a very serious accident on the F3 heading north from Sydney where it turned into a car park the RTA had to refuel dozens of cars! my TDCi uses .9L/hr when idling so thats 72 hrs + it can idle at if you had a full tank to start of with regardless of the temperature!
