I modified my standard XR8 one just yesterday with some instructions from the territory forums it now has the normal snorkel and a 4 inch stainless pipe which i mounted in the front of it behind the headlight to push the air in. The induction noise is awsome and i pick up a bit of mid range power. Just a thought!

Not sure what they cost, but the G&D air boxes seem to be pretty good. Or you could just buy the lower snorkel off the typhoon and put it into your AU's box.

G&D is around the $645 mark fitted.

you could mount a pod filter in your airbox and replace the strut tower intake pipe on the AU with a 3in polished alloy pipe.

I recently fitted a monster 9in K&N pod filter ($75) into my airbox (same as G&D uses) and now I have just replaced the tapered intake pipe with a 3in pollished alloy pipe.

Results were good after fitting it:- increased throttle response, power and fuel economy.(trip meter). I had previously run the pod filter using the standard intake pipe for about 1month, so the difference was obvious.

It also makes the enclosed pod a fair bit louder, which suggests to me the tapered pipe may have been used by ford as a induction noise baffle.
