Hi Boss
They only come in Manual and the 5 Cyl engine is no longer in production. (Might be nearing the end of production anyway) They do not make them in auto. This is the end of the line. So if your on the fence, make a decision, because soon, the only one you'll get it is a used one.

As far as I know, the only turbo hot-hatch that is not exclusively manual is the Lancer Ralliart (2.0L Turbo with 6 speed sequential).

Maybe if it's compatable, they'll one day fit the Dual Clutch Transmission used in the current Turbo Diesel. Then I'll be the first in line to buy one.

Especially once it gets tuned. But well and truely over priced when compared to a Focus XR5. |

Not as silly as it sounds mighty-mon, went and looked at a V50 T5 R series Volvo on Sat and she loves it, not as pretty as XR5 and more of a wagon than a hatch but i think its basicly the same donk (169kw), its AWD (one of the last ones available as theyre all 2WD now) but most importantly SHE IS HAPPY! so i can stop lookin for cars and keep building my Boss powered AC Cobra...Woo Hoo!

If you get a Volvo dont look at keeping it for a long time. have seen to many low km(out of warranty) volvos with auto probs (=expensive) even just for a gear selector switch.
Dual Clutch gearboxes are going to be the new Auto, durability of manual and easy of use of an Auto.

DOH, so Volvo auto's are crap.....now wot????? car shopping for a women is only marginally better than clothes shopping, surely these 5 speed boxes have been around for long enuff to be solid?. We looked at an A4 Audi with a 1.8 ltr turbo that has a 8 speed trans as standard! now that would be big bucks to fix and the engine size made me nervous

I taught my GF to drive manual a little while ago and she's never looked back, she hates autos now.
I think it'd be the easier and cheaper option.

The amount of low down torque the XR5 has makes it a very easy car to learn manual in.
My wife finds it easier to drive than our old XR4 as you can pretty much just take your foot off the clutch and it will drive off smoothly thanks to the low down grunt. Only thing she doesnt like is that the side bolsters on the seats are so big they block her arm when trying to change gear because she is only 4'11" But luckly the seat has a large range of adjustment as does the steering wheel. If she is open to learning it could be worth it.
