WTF! now thats just way to much money for somethign that has about as much rust as the bloody titanic! and it has the bloody 250 in it, not even the more deseriable 302 or 351. he really shouldnt be asking more than about $2,500 for it. and LOL @ the guy who wants to swap his 98 tickford for it.

My old man just bought an XB Fairmont Coupe 302 with about the same amount of rust and crappy paint for less than half the price of that.

The bloke is dreaming.

No he's not, the thing has 31 bids on it already so I reckon he'll be laughing not dreaming.

Remember with ebay, not all the bids may be genuine - for example he may have a few mates at home "bidding" against eachother to bump up the price... it happens!

Didn't look at it from the sellers perspective, good point.

First bid was at $250, the way I see it is you dont make anyone bid for it you are just offering it up for sale ! I just sold a used weiand stealth manifold for $325, I paid $300 for it 12 months ago brand new. Started bids at $200.
If people want it ...... they will pay.
However the coupe appears to be way too much !!!

The responses from the seller sound non interested and sarcastic to deal with and agreed that 'mates' bids are likely to contributing to the acutal total of bids.

Wishing him well . . .

yes, lots of pics and stuff but...

Bidder 6 is the current highest bid at $15,100. Bidder 6 is a new member (less than 30 days since the account was created). chances are Bidder 6 is one of his mates. if the auction ends with Bidder 6 winning it, all this guy has to do is report a non-paying bidder and he gets his money back (apart from the listing fee, which is minimal). looks sus to me.

EDIT: Bidder 6 actually has 0 feedback. the plot thickens.

Yeah i know Nick.

But im suprised by this 1.

Its rusty, stock and only a 6 cylinder. If it were a GS or a GT, thats another story.

Alot of people in my family were disgusted when i bought mine. They thought i paid too much. I always knew it was a good buy.

It is supply and demand. 32 bids at this stage. Ask yourself this. If it was your car that you were selling, would you refuse higher bids????? I think not somehow.

Worth every penny being built just after captain cook landed, would be one of a kind as a 1793 Ford Coupe!

I love this , I paid $6500 for mine just over 3 years ago and it is in great nick . Every time I see one of these on ebay I grab the misses and say have a look at this . Then I show the mother and father in law and say look how cheap mine was (they thought it was insane to pay $6500 for a 30 year old car lol ) . Then I ask the in laws how much their Mercedes 4 wheel drive that cost them 80 grand is worth now ( about 45 lol ) . Ah I love it I hope he gets 20 grand for it .

The prices on these coupes are getting outrages.
So the coupe that I thought was overpriced in the Imperial Palace in LasVegas for sale this year was not so overpriced after all.

It was her dads that could no longer drive it no more, when i told her what she could of got ($10,000+) she almost fell off her stool!

Just had a look at the bid history and bidder 6 is definetely dodgy. Plenty of bids just upping their last without a bid by another person in between. So the 15,100 is dodgy but the other bidder, bidder 11, has a good feedback rating and has had a highest bid of 15k even.

He'll probably get it you know.

In the latest issue of Just Cars theres a 4.1L 6 cyl XB Coupe in there for $20k..Nothing flash but says in immac cond.

It kills me that i could have picked up an immaculate red 1975 XB 302 coupe for 5 grand in 1986 but passed on it as it was too much (I thought) and went for an XC GXL instead.

These coupes are certainly becoming pricey rides.

yep, it depends what condition it's in i guess. i was watching this auction a couple of nights ago. this thing went from around $10k to just shy of $20k in the last 5 minutes, but look at the condition of it!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....1827&rd=1&rd=1

reserve was not met.

Thats insane....Although it's a classic example of the laws of supply and demand in action I guess....It may well be near new for 45 yo car.....But I just don't see the appeal .....Old technology and dreadful to take on a long drive anyplace compared to todays comfortable suspension set-ups, power and torgue...Christ it doesn't even have a radio and dingo ugly ! For another 5 to 7 grand you can get yourself a good used 2 year old XR8 with less than 40,000 on the clock.....although the XR has no investment potential (yet)

I still can't understand the appeal of XW/XY GTHO's either.....You'd only buy one for the potential capital gain, not because they're a nice car...The GTHO's are a product of motor media beat up on the back of a few Bathurst wins in the late 60's/ early 70's IMO that people fell for and made many successive owners wealthy in the process. Sure they're certainly fast but good looks and comfort?....forget it. Not to say I wouldn't mind one though ha ha !
