White parkers and white lights look the best. I wouldnt mind getting those crystal vision globes from Phillips but there worth $100! The diamond vision which are a bluer colour are $200. Both of these lights are illegal for road use.

www.brightlightautoparts.com very cheap n i've got them on my car, tell the guy Ash sent you n he'll fix you up, and yeah not only upping the wattage is alot brighter, but you can wreck you wires n all, as its alot hotter, n if your using projector headlights (like the xr), they won't last very long due to the excessive heat. hope this helps -Ash

putting in higher wattage wrecks the crome looking stuff inside your headlight, which stops the light reflecting properly. i thought low beam headlight bulbs were H4's?

H4 is dual filament so is for both low and high.
Blue-tinted bulbs generally shine as white so will not cause any legal complications. However the tint significantly reduces light output and increases heat. Like higher wattage bulbs, this can result in damage to wiring as well as accelerated fading of headlight reflectors. In my opinion, the Autotecnica bulbs from Kmart as good as the super expensive Philips etc. White LEDs are ideal for parkers but on most E Series models they would not last long due to being so close to the hot headlight bulb. (later XR models being the exception) |

dont worry about parker lights, who uses them anyway?
they are meant for parking on the side of the road in dark places so people dont run up the back of your car. instead, put reflective masking tape all over your bumper. its all the rage with the kids wearing trucker hats crooked so they look like they have a low iq

thanks to all the replies! looks like ill stick to 55W. so some bulbs dont need the blue tint and they shine white, whereas som have the blue tint to make em white - is that right? I thought cheap blue tinted ones would be fine but after reading that this makes them heat up more and cut down light ouput im not so sure - anyone else agree with that??
Ill keep the high beamers yellow in case i cant see in the rain lol |

No incandescent bulb without the blue tint will shine white (as distinguished from yellow-white). It is theoretically possible but has not been done to my knowledge, HID is the direction things have moved in.

I need H1's. the fairmont ghia and some others run the H4's.
alrighty so blue tint is needed for the white light. thanks for clarifying. How does HID differ? that still use xenon? |

Not 100% sure about the HID's, but they run a totally different system, the bulbs to replace are around $200 each, and run on a converter box thing, You know them meercs or bmw's wiht though white blue lights that stand out hard from the rest..well those are it, n as i said i can get them very cheap compared to other places like autobarn n all em,
as for your H1's Im running them in my car, withthe blue tint, not as bright as a normal light, but look 100times better, n i got my pair for..hmmm $15 i think it was? If you guys want anycheap lights (that are quality) PM me or somthin n i can guide you in the right direction

HIDs generally speaking are dangerous and illegal in reflector headlamps (as the vast majority of Falcons have). If you want to see a proper retrofit, see MADNC_8's car. A kit installed in a standard ED-EL XR or NA-NC Fairlane would work OK too.
HIDs use gas discharge capsules instead of incandescent globes; instead of a heated glowing filament, they produce an arc of pure white light. They require huge voltage for start-up and a ballast, but when operating consume much less energy and potentially last much longer before the capsules (globes) need replacing. |

I bought some xenon bulbs. they were cheap. they are whiter and slightly brighter which is good, but still got nothing on those HID's in those accord euros I see just about every night! No blue tinge at all, which is good in one way cos it won't attract attention but not as cool...
I pulled the parkers out cos they are yellow and are on at the same time as headlights so tinge things yellow. What I want to know is what are the legalities regarding parking lights? can I stick some blue parkers in there - that will give the main headlight a nice blue tinge and look sweet!!! or is that illegal???? cheers |

Blue is illegal because it is an emergency service vehicle light colour.
White LEDs are great for parkers unless the parker is close to a hot headlamp (as in non-XR E series) - heat would kill them fast. I'd suggest a blue-tinted incandescent bulb, which would appear white like your headlight bulbs. |
