Perhaps a V8 upgrade. Nah....couldn't be..... forced induction? Too easy.... Stroked? Maybe.... Dual exhaust.... not without major mods....

I think all in all, with the added performance of fluffy dice, 1mtr long window stickers, aerodynamic door mirrors, and custom chrome exhast tips, we can expect Casper to be running 8 second passes on the 1/4 - lol

Better put on the anti-wheelie bars just in case - ROFL

Supercharging, is this true? Now that's something worth getting really excited about!

I hope you're not messing with me Krissy? LOL! I get too excited these days about people's mods. This of course is a compensatory measure for the lack of cash flow and mods on my vehicles.

I can see it now.

GK lying on the well worn couch of shrink.
Shrink "Tell me GK, when did all this start?"
GK "It all started in March 2005, I joined Ford Forums as
99FuturaWagon, of course my name is different now Doc, but the
name change hasn't shaken this desire to mod my cars."
Shrink "Why is this a problem for you GK?"
GK "Because I don't have the money to mod Doc."
Shrink "What would life be like for you GK if you did have the money?"
GK "Please, please, stop the torture doc!"
Shrink "What's wrong?"
GK "I'm being torn between "bling and go, you've gotta help me Doc!"
Shrink "I'm not sure there is a cure for your ailment son!"
GK "NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!"

If it were true do you think I'd have left the post there? :

No, car stays NA.

I like NA though, takes careful consideration. Don't get me wrong, FI is ok too.

Hmmmm,Supercharging the AU I6,the thought has crossed my mind a couple of times, what a weapon it would be,i'm sure you've all seen what we've acheived with the LS1 using this method.Do you think there would be a market if we were to embark on this type of quest? Of course this type of mod doesn't come cheap & may be out of most peoples reach.

Yes its one of those thoughts i keep coming back to as well. $6,500 for a CAPA powerdyne kit and you can get and a lazy torqey 160rwkw with the current mods and cam i am running. Its tempting but the insurance rego and engineering certificate stuff puts me off still.

Your point is well taken, if we all had buckets and buckets of cash, the sky would be the limit for one and all. We'd need the extra moula though, to deal with the insurance spike that would accompany such an awesome mod.

You must get quite a kick out of seeing people drive away very happy with your products!

I just did an online quote from Justcars for my car NA and then Supercharged. Both were under $1000pa and were within $50 of each other. In other words, supercharging an XR6 (and insureing with Just cars) for a person over 30 and rating 1 makes no major difference in the costs.

I'd be more worried about the Vicroads/Engineering costs (which I know can be done as the edit fixes the biggest problem.. aftermarket computer no longer needed) and the fuel/tyre costs!!

My policy with Shannons means I could add the supercharger at no cost, provided I didn't up the agreed value, and made sure it was legally done!

It would only be a temp fix.. as soon as it was done he'd come up with another idea to make it even faster. Thats the beauty of cars, there is always "something else".

He wont rest till he's got one running 9's I'm sure! :

Maybe Glenn may need some help from one of our fellow members to help get it to 7's :

Only way an AU I6 is going to run a 7 is if the track is vertical.

I still want to drive my car on the road some days (although at $1.50L thats going to be a weekend type luxury I think) :

I hear ya... None of the others will insure my wifes car.. They say that there is too many mods and Shannons says no because it is the weekly family ride, so the only option is Just Cars. Would like the value to be higher and I would feel more comfortable about the mods but all that you can do is list them all separately to be covered.

no, there have been BA XR6T's running 9's for a while now.

It takes insane amounts of power but its not out of the question. Hotdbz's turboed AU XR6 ran 11's as a road car when Dan owned it (and got the tune all sorted). It could have quite easily have run 10's and still been a daily driver with a bit more work.

If you are a member of a car club (eg XR/FPV club of Vic), they will insure your daily driver as well. I have the wagon (daily driver/family car, with mods, of course) with Shannons, and will add the XR in July when current insurance expires.
