Had a Grand Ridge Yarra Valley Gold tonight. Had it before, but really enjoyed it this time around.
3.10 a bottle, but Grand Ridge makes nice stuff. Highly recommended.

my favourite at the moment would have to be SOL its like a cheaper version or coronas but tastes way better and doesnt need lemon! you can drink like half a carton within about 2 hrs and youll get hammered but you dont curl over and die for the rest of the nite. its a good 'happy drunk' brew cos you dont feel like abusing everyone when your hammered, only problem is ive got to drive 80k's to perth to find em... but defianatly worth the trip

Was over in the States recently and while there couldnt resist the tempatation to get myself a 40 ounce bottle of Olde English while in Chicago. At $3.95 US its the closest you can get to being a bum/homeboy. It tasted liked a malty beer without too much fizz pretty easy to drink. They call it malt liquor over there, and cos you gotta drink it before it gets warm it gets you pretty tipsy, not sure what % that stuff is but its gotta be at least 6 I imagine.
Also took a tour of the Millers factory in Milwaulkee they offer free samples at the end of it, highly recommend the Miller High Life!! cheers! |

I prefer Guinness Draught, Boddingtons or Kilkenny just for easy drinking. Sometimes I might go for a Crownie every now and then, also dont mind a well pulled Krony '64.
I like Guinness Double Stout out of a tankard just for slow drinking, sitting around a fire in the middle of winter, decked out in my medieval re enactment gear. I'll go for a good Pale Ale if nothing else can be found and I'm in a beer mood. I like Cider as much as I like beer.

Boddingtons is like Tetley English Ale, but I found it a bit stronger and flavoursome. Tetley was a little more watery, but they're great beers for summer.
Enjoying a Belle-Vue Kriek atm. Like champagne a bit. Very tart. Not bad, but not sure if I'll get again at 8 bucks a bottle (375ml).

I'm not going to pi$$ in all your ears about which beer gets me smashed and how many i can neck down, but if i'm paying for beer, it's the one they make on Port Road at Thebarton.
I'll drink anything else if it's for free, except Coopers! You couldn't even pay me to drink it.

How can anyone "choose" Corona? i mean it tastes so horrible that only if it was free and there was no fruity lexia left in the bottom of the bag, i would have it but only if there was no other booze or metho available.... Disclaimer: i do not drink metho or goon under any circumstance, this backs up my theory that Corona is Mexican ****s water Also, I have not sampled ****s but a warm foamy glass could not be worse than an ice cold midneck...

I quite like Warsteiner, Hoegaarden, and Grolsh isnt too bad. I just hate drinking all these nice beers at home, only to go to a wedding/function/xmas party where the only (free) beer available is New and VB :

Corona has been marketing properly here so when people pay a ridiculous price for it here, they believe they're drinking a "prestige" or "quality" beer. I don't care if people like Corona...I just have a problem with people who believe it's a quality beer, or a classy beer. I'm sure our good friend South of the Border, Pedro, buys Corona when he can't smuggle enough chooks down his pants inside the border, therefore making enough to buy something better.

Coopers is owned and made by South Australians. West End is a bogan beer own by the Chinese.

I find Coopers okay. They make some decent stuff and don't try to tack on a BS image like CUB does with their trash. Crownies being "Australia's Finest" is a laugh. Australia's finest at telling lies. Coopers to me is a good down to Eath beer that knows where it belongs and is proud of it.
Grand Ridge is an Aussie brewery that makes some excellent stuff. At my Danno's, it's 3.10 a bottle, except Moonshine, which is 6.20 or thereabouts, but it's good stuff.

Tried one last night, brewed in a winery at clare valley called knappstein, this rates as probably the best beer I have ever tasted. $5 a bottle, I am going back tomorrow to buy more. It was the equivelant of a blown big block sitting on 8000rpm smoking the biggest tyres you have ever seen, sex in a bottle

However, my brother buys 4 packs all the time and it's a decent one. It's got a B on beeradvocate, which is actually a good mark as there are many C and D beers.

I'll tack on that Corona, the almighty "quality" beer gets a D on beer advocate...
One person summed it up well... Overhyped, overpriced and overdrank.

So you prefer a free VB or West End over a quality beer which you must pay for yourself?

At least Coronas are imported like they say they are - Heineken's aren't. While we are talking about overrated beers add Crownie's to the list. Steinlager is utter vomit - Hoegarten i guess is ok but still too pricey -
UD, for someone who has somthing to say to just about every beer mentioned - Have you tried "Bitburger" - They are i guess "Cheap" Import - But they are bottled in Germany - i find them very enjoyable - "definitely" the opposite of somthing like Heineken or Becks |

Hoegaarden is a good beer, but yes, too pricey. Prefer Erdinger...same taste, much better value.
I have tried Bitburger...I mentioned it in a previous post. German lager. German lagers are good because BY LAW you can't use impurities, which unfortunately are rife in Australian beers. Lowenbrau is another cheap German beer that is still better than a Corona or Crown by a long way. Beer should not have to have gold labelling or lemon to make it good! I prefer an imported Heineken over a Corona, but that isn't saying much as I don't drink either. THe real Heinekens were a lot nicer. I hate Corona.

Ill have to keep my eye out for Lowenbrau - Do you like San Miguel? they are very nice |

The best beer is Carlton Draught!, cannot buy better!!., Budweiser and Coronas are the worst and most over rated beers ever!
