No wonder Ford is in the ****. Barely any such thing as brand loyalty anymore, they will switch brands at the drop of a hat instead of sticking with them through thick and thin.

well considering the lap times for an R-spec are about the same as a N/A ls3 clubbie, i would say the GT falc is in a shizzle....

Why do we need +300 kw car?

Because other people want to buy them and will actually pay lots of cash for them....

Um....Not at all.

I bought a demo 2010 SC 5.0 GS for $43k about 18 mths ago, spent $1600 to get it tuned, so for $45k i now have 590HP...440kw (366rwkw) and approx 670NM torque.

Why would I spend more than double for a car that is same performance?

i know its got heaps more tech blah blah blah....but the average Joe punter aint gonna spend $100k on a car.

IF holden ever came out with a 6.2l supercharged SS or base clubsport, then it would be a tuners dream i reckon

According to this article, the new HSV has an intercooler as well, is this correct? If so, Ford could put an intercooler on the next GT and a little more aggressive tune, then a 450kw engine shouldn't be an issue.

Seen heaps of them in front of me and then shortly thereafter disappearing in my rear view mirror

What annoys me about some of these posts is when ford released the 5.0 SC and pro holden people were saying "we have walkinshaw that brings out a car with xxx more power" but we would reply with "its not factory" which IMO that is rght and the walkinshaw is just a aftermarket business and mean nothing to this HSV vs FPV war . . .

But now since this new HSV appears to have more power all you ford guys are now saying "well my tuned GS has xxx more" well so what it ain't factory anymore so it has no relevance . . .

You can't have it both ways

Personally for me it's not a HSV vs FPV or Ford vs Holden thing, I guess I look at the performance per $$$ of a car I am looking at buying so bang for buck.

That's why I love these ford supercharged engines....for very little outlay ($1600 for a tune) you have m5 and e63 and now top of the range HSV performance....for half the price....or a quarter vs the the euro models!!

Ehh, just borrow Mr. Shelby's swansong engine. 5.8l, 662Hp. That would give this twit something to really go bananas over.

Dude not sure why u need to put this in. They both are powerful cars and I have had the chance to own both. I loved the fg F6 power but the rest of the car was falling apart hence why sales are down for falcon because they really are in a rut. Now for the new HSV coming the old saying is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBIC INCHES being 6.2L charged I'm sure it's going to be quick and when tuned properly it will be a missile. The only thing I think it will need is the MRC tweaked , other then that the car will sell quiet easily.

Cool story, dude^

How much does the HSV cost again?

No substitute for cubic inches?

What's your excuse for the smaller capacity Porsche, Ferrari, Aston, Merc, Audi etc.. engines then?

How much power are they getting from a stock 5.0l again compared to a stock 6.2 with the same blower setup?

Jesus christ...

Dude, "NO SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBIC INCHES" .
So if this is true. Why dose the B or F series F6 eats a HSV Clubsport for breakfast?

You have to wonder about HSV chasing refinement when the majority of their fan base would have to be the most uneducated, unrefined, deluded demographic you're likely to come across in this country. They're like the Westboro Baptist Church of car enthusiasts...

It may just be the GTS that gets the huffer......and at @100k....they aint exactly going to be commonplace. At the end of the day....GT will still be king of tbe road. No proof that the blown 6.2 will be any quicker or be more tractable. And whats the use if the chassis struggles with it anyways and turns it into a pig to drive.

Regardless.......sign of the times....both FPV and HSV will be condemned for releasing such useless monsters out onto our roads. That was the point of the discussion and a bone of contention for many prospective buyers and "enthusiasts"........who of course will only buy them for track day use..........

I would appreciate the privilege of being able to spend my hard earnt on whatever I choose to purchase.....FPV and HSV are giving us tremendous options......would be a shame to have that taken away through increased public dissent.

agree on the 70's style media flashback, I'm hoping if HSV will make this E85 compatible, ECO friendly.

Yes, if it wasn't for the top level manufacturers seeking to push the limits, cars wouldn't be half as advanced as they are today. The things learned through motorsport and high performance cars has filtered down to the mainstream, enabling more horsepower/litre of capacity, better efficiency, better tyres, brakes and suspension and stronger and safer cars.

The 420kW proposed engine is the same output as the engine in the Cadillac CTS-V which came out in 2009 - I'm sure no-one over there complained. 1930kg weight, RWD, and the quarter done in 12 seconds flat. Over in the USA, if the standard CTS-V isn't enough, there's this:

http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoram...190832135.html

The 6.2 litre isn't quite good enough for them - TT7.0 litre V8

Then there's stuff like this from Europe
http://www.themotorreport.com.au/160...twin-turbo-v10
in a wagon too!

looked up some real world facts...(to refresh my memory)
w427....4.7sec 0-100klm (2 well known journo tests)
GT or GT Rspec.... 4.5 sec 0-100klm (everyone whose driven one)
And ANY tests with rolling starts DEMOLISH the Holdens.

Holdens and HSVs have had their performance figures overated since before the VE. Holden claims they go 'this' fast with 'this' much power but is NEVER backed in the real world.
Just look at youtube videos or tests on the FG falcon...anything from base xt v omega thru to FPVs. There is barely a single comparo that even puts any of the holdens close in the real world.....not just paper.

hsv to me has the audi led lights, the old 2door falconGT bonnet, and a chev engine. thats a holden? Years ago no substitute for cubes was in the most part right. Now with alloy engine and over head quad cams cubes are not as big an issue.

I'm so sick and tired of this obsession people seem to have with quarter mile and 0-100 times...So car x is 0.0001 seconds quicker than car y. Whoop dee doo, do you want a medal? Does it help you sleep at night? Does it pay your bills? Seriously?
Don't get me wrong, I like performance cars as much as the next bloke, but all this pointless carry on about times is mind numbing to read and is nothing but a childish **** measuring contest.

I think your stuck stuck in the 70s. there are smaller capicty cars that will flog this thing that will probably only produce 340kw at the rears. loved to test your theory against against something like a Ferrari 458. a car that accelerates from a standing start too 100km/h in 3 and a half seconds and yet has a smaller 4.5L V8 that's also naturally aspirated
