Sat Nav Which one? Plaese help.

Looking at aftermarket Sat Nav , so I wanted to get some feed back from anyone using the sytems available, The popular ones seem to be the Tom Tom & Navman.

As I'm one of these people that jump in the car, think I know where I'm going realise I don't half way through the journey & then try & look in the street directory at every red light, getting my kids to tell me when it turns green, the family think I'm a candidate for a Sat Nav & I agree.

Questions:

Do they have the latest maps to cover our extending cities?

How easy are they to use?

Do they reset , when you make a wrong turn?

What features do you need?

so far a good satNav that are good in the markets are

Navman 520 with card, and TomTom which similar feature also if you miss or do a wrong turn the satNav will choice another routne and most of them are very easy to set

I just bought the Navman ICN530, and like all current model sat navs features the latest Sensis 13 maps, wrong turn correction, Point of Interest data base etc...

They are extremely easy to use and the programmed voices are surprisingly clear and concise.

I went for the Navman PiN300 (which I think has been superceded now). The beauty of this is that it has basically the same features as the ICNXXX models, but comes in the form of a PDA.
This means you can use it for all your work stuff (appointments,contacts, Word, Excel etc) and then just slip it on the car holder and its a fully functional satnav unit.
As others have said, it has points of interest, re-routing if you miss a turn, it'll give you current/average speeds, time to destination and lots more. An excellent unit that I highly recommend.

yeah we got a tomtom (cant remem model) but anyways another guy who works there said it was great... you can download voices (ozzy ozbourne, some sexy voice.. and the good thing is they are acurate..ozzy swears at you when u make a wrong turn)
anyways its re-routes you if you make a wrong turn, reminds you 10,50,20,10,5,2,and then tells you to turn. it also keeps saying (if you take a wrong turn to make a legal u-turn.. a few times then does the re-routing

its a small compact thing full touch screen and buttons.. can mount right infront of you on the dash or the screen, or plug it into a dvd player screen or something and you can take it out of its dock and use it as a handheld
umm it also comes with a USB cable(i think) to connect to your pc and download new maps or it has an SD slot
im working tomorrow so ill grab a model number for you

oh apparently theres a few models that told you traffic conditions BUT i dont think australia has services to support that..but the GPS does.

I use the TomTom One. Good coverage, accurate maps and simple to use. I like the customisable displays and unlike the BA inbuilt unit it's easy to find one that can be used during the day with the lights on and still be visible. Only limitation for a windscreen mount like mine is the 3 hour battery life.
