Default My Car Is Grasping

Hi All

I have a quick question, My car seems to be grasping when i go to accelerate, It dosen't do it when i accelerate very lightly.

I have in the past 2 months changed or had changed under warranty the following parts

Coil Pack
Leads
Plugs
Steering Rack
A Couple Pullys and seals

I guess my question is what could cause my car to cough when i accelerate. It does not seem like a miss, i had that when the coil was failing so anyone got any ideas. The car runs fine when just idleing. I do have a humming fuel pump could that cause the problem?

Cheers

Heard recently the filter on the fuel pump (in tank) causing issues ... or is could be your fuel filter getting clogged.

I would say fuel pump is the issue - the only way to know for sure is get it on a dyno and have a look at the AFRs under load. Too lean (13+) would suggest fuel pump.

Hi JC

I will see if i can find a place in townsville that has a dyno, I suppose there has to be a company here that has one and it would be a good opportunity to see how much power the car is producing. I wonder then if it just better i take it in to the dealer where i brought it and see if they can fix it, they have do most of the repairs on the car under warranty

Cheers

yeah man sounds like fuel pump does it crank for a whilke before starting? because thats a good sign fuel pump not holding pressure any1 with a fuel pressure tester or CODA should be able to find fault if exists..

Sounds like the same problem I had. I was convinced it was electrical too but turns out it was a blocked fuel strainer.
Changing the fuel filter is important but its most likely caused by the fuel strainer mounted on the bottom of the pump.

Have a read of this.

Thanks Tri Power, It seems that it might be something to do with the fuel pump or filter and after reading how hard a new one is to install i might just take it back to the dealer. :(. I was trying to avoid that becuase the only time they can get it in is the day my car goes to get the bodykit fitted. Owell i guess the pump will have to wait to i get the car back.

Cheers
