Hi there,
I'm trying to work out what my original paint code means on my 1962 Fairlane . It has a Ford Motor Company of Australia tag attached to passenger shock tower, and the paint code is 111. This doesn't seem to come up in any look-up I've found. It appears to be factory black, but the code doesn't seem to match anything. Anybody out there who can help? |

Sorry I can't help with the paint code Lazy72, I just love Fairlanes. I had no idea that compacts were made in '62 as I thought they were a '63 and 4 model...

If it was a Ford Australia assembled vehicle, try contacting Ford Customer Service, they may still have details in the system of the vehicle and options it left the factory with.

Yeah, I'll give them a try, but from previous experience their database only goes back to about 1965. They couldn't give me any info on my 1964 XM!
But that was a few years ago, they might have access to more info nowadays. They decoded my 1972 XA plate no problems, but like I say I don't think they go back far enough for the compact. |

The car has been repainted a couple of times, but it looks like the engine bay and boot are still original black in colour.
But the code for Raven black seems to be A. Mine is 111 I'm hoping this code means something to someone. Maybe special order? Maybe two tone beige and brown........ |

just put an answer in the
American fords room http://fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=34 edit :here it is : if Australian, then the actual paint code is '1' the 111 refers to roof , middle and lower - from an era when 'tutone' etc paint schemes were common. from the equivalent Australian XK/XL falcons- which generally ford Australia used the same codes 1 is raven black for both XK (60-62) and XL (62 to 63) http://www.fordforums.com.au/vbporta...?articleid=850 Last edited by 9triton; 02-08-2016 at 08:54 AM. |
