Default Motorvation 2011

Surprised there wasn't an existing thread for Motorvation this year...

Got back a few hours ago and was a little disapointed. I haven't been for a few years and it seems to be dominated by tonners, toranas, commodores and the occasional GT. Personally i like American Muscle, but there were very few to be seen. In fact i can only remember seeing one Mustang inside the grounds! ( a few in the car park appeased me though )

While the quality of cars present is no doubt improving the range is not.

Anyway what are everyone elses thoughts?

Yep, dissapointed as well. thought it would be getting better, but unfortunately no. Had a couple of "wonderful" people who had their Toranas with their tight jean wearing girlfriends with the even tighter Holden or Bogan Princess singlets on display make a comment about my Cobra T-shirt, when I asked them not to use that language in front of my 10 and 8 year old, they laughed and said I was too old and everyone swears. I agred everyone swears but no need to use the C word.

They said "well it's because you like Fords", told them that their girlfriend was good fun last night. They didn't like it!! A group of other car enthusiasts had a good laugh at them.

I too noticed the lack of restraint in regards to language. While watching some burnouts there was a few blokes who couldn't resist vocalizing thier opinions using colourful language with youngsters only a few feet away.

Has made me look forward to http://www.bigalspokerrun.com.au on the 12th of Feb a lot more!

Maybe they could look at different weekends for different breeds (read into this what you will), I dont to start a `red V blue debate ` but one sides supporters seem to have a few more manners than the other.
I didnt bother going this year for that exact reason..

I went last year for the first time in a few years and it had mostly all the same cars Ive seen before. Then there was a heap of VEs we service at work so was hardly exciting. For $40 it was a waste of money so didnt bother going this year and probably wont again.

I dont know that many people that do go to it anymore.

I would've gone if I wasn't out here at work and I'll probably be entering next year dependant on the roster. I have friends and family who've entered the past few years and spend most of my time with them cruising. I went to Powercuise this year and it was awesome, even though I blew a head gasket on the last lap of my first cruise.

I'd love to take my kids there, but I have the same issues about language. I can't believe how some people have absolutely no regard for anyone around them, especially children and the elderly. Hey, I'm no angel and I use the Fs and Cs at work, but there's no way my kids will hear it come out of my mouth and if something like that were to slip out around some oldies I'd be embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I suppose that's for another thread, though.

Never been, only heard average things about it. powercruise on the other hand, only heard good things. Cant wait till October to go for the first time if it comes back again this year as I missed it last year.

Commodorevation/Boganvation, whatever it's called - you're right, it's mostly a waste of money and suntan screen (if you remember it!).

Bring on Big Al's Poker Run 12th Feb. I did hear a strong rumour that it's limited to pre 78 model cars only to stop all the bogans in, especially - you guessed it - Commodores attending.

I went on saturday and gotta say there were too many late model commodores and it was very expensive for a car show. But I also had a great time, probably knowing people entered and good company in general made for a fun day.

I went to commodore-vation on saturday, hadn't been before but i enjoyed it. Although i did expect more out of the event than what it was.

I had a giggle when i saw the "ricers" trying to powerskid.

IMO, Single-handedly the best idea for making a good all-brand car show.

i entered again for the second time in a row had a ball with the other guys from perth falcons that got accepted, yes heaps of two tone commodores with cheap china 20' rims and cat backs the import crew were light on attendance due to them having beef with the promoters.

will be back next year hopefully with more falcons in tow.

pretty sure Big Als is pre-78 due to the number of cars attending becoming unmanageable. the commodores were told not to attend a long time ago due to behavioural problems.
