Default Au Fairmont Ghia A/c

Hi Guys
I had trouble with my A/C on my GHIA were the compressor shat itself.
The clutch disintergraded & wrecked the compressor.

Any how a new compressor was fitted, regased & dye added.

Now almost everytime the A/C is turned on, a loud bang or thud can be heard a couple of seconds of running & nothing after that.

There are no leaks & plenty of gas...

What can it be???

The A/C bloke can't even tell me!!!

Is the thump coming from under the dash? Mine (S3 F/Ghia) has always clunked once after aircon turned on.
There is an answer to what it is in this forum somewhere but I can't remember, other than it's normal.

Can't help you but doesn't sound good :(

Mine "clunks" once but definitely from under the dash.

yeah make sure it's not your blend door. I remember before I did the reset/recalibrate on mine it would make an awful thunk when I first turned it on and I was sure that that the sound was coming from under the hood.

Can you explain the reset/recalibrate routine.

Mine isn't a hideous noise... more like a fridge door closing but if it can be reset I'll do it.
