Hi guys, i might take off the side wind protectors off my AU Falcon XR6. Will it peel off the paint as it is double sided taped? Is there any thing I need to look out for when taking it them off to avoid damage?
Could any one be kind enough to explain how to go about taking them off... Thanks

Undo the fastener clips, use a piece of wire to cut between the window edge and wind protector, use some eucalyptus oil to wipe away the tape and glue... give me the un-needed protectors

or a razor blade if you're keen enough
but WHY would you take them off? do pure highway and want the better fuel economy? Thats the only reason i can think of, cos they're the BEST.

If you're a little bit hesitant about using wire or a razor blade, use a piece of fishing line. If it slips, you won't scratch your paintwork. And, as mentioned by blueprint, then use the eucalyptus oil to clean up and a bit of polish to finish off..

Heat the adhesive strip with a hair-dryer or leave it in the sun for a little while. That will make the adhesive allot more tacky and flexible, then clean up with the eucalyptus oil as others have suggested.

But the reason he's taking them off is because he likes the look of the car more with them off! Just personal preference. |

woah, cool your jets boys.
so first off i posted helpful information then i posted why, cos i was curious seeing as the OP had admitted their supreme function, but hadn't yet said why i was having a go at david 100 cos he felt like answering a question/statement i directed at the OP. Now i have an answer from the OP, and if he chooses to prefer the looks thats quite fine. Don't, as a third party, have a go at me just because you feel like it. If the OP chooses to, fair enough, it's his thread. If a mod chooses to, fair enough, its his forum. But other than that, it's between me and the OP.

Big bro took his off, looked UGLY! only because they were so old most of the tape wouldnt budge, to get what was left off, there was this stuff he used orange somthing? worked a treat. but even then some paint did peal off with the tape. nothing a bit of chip stick and polish coulnt fix. just use a razor slowly does it. :

Amazing how a topic as bland as weathershields can still entice the muppets.
Mr. Hardware, you are very close to a warning.
