Hey mate, Im guessing you might have an EGAS ute? When I got mine done it was around the $1000 mark i think, which included extractors, metalcat cat converter, resonator, muffler and chrome tip. All 2.5" mandrel bent piping which had to be custom bent because there is no off the shelf setups available. Yes the resonator is at the front and the big muffler at the rear, I reckon best bet would be to stick with that, thats what I got and its pretty loud but also drones. Depends how loud you want and how much drone but if you talk to the exhaust guys about it they will tell you what you need to get the sound you want.
Cheers
Luke

Alot of places do mandrel bent as standard but you better ask just to be sure.

yeah if you want to be gay like kenz get a hotdog in it, or if you want something more subtle... don't mine isn't too loud but still puts out a sweet note and hardly drones at all. like he said it needs to be custom and i got mine done for around the same price he did. bending on the mandrel just ensures that the pipe doesn't get squashed on the bends as basically they bend it around some steel as opposed to just bending it... if that makes sense

Its just a basic style of straight through muffler that affects the sound of the system. The note will mainly depend on the muffler you get in the rear, my pipe goes in at the top and exits at the bottom but is straight through from entry to exit, where as you can get some that have an s shape inside the muffler and theres probably others aswell I dont really know. What u can also do is when the guys are installing it, be there and they can put a few different ones on and you can decide which sound one you like best

It will fit over. On mine, just needed a little bending by hand (nothing difficult) and then bolted straight back on. From memory the guy that did it mentioned that he couldn't get the bottom bolt back on, but it doesn't rattle so it seems ok. No more melting smell since putting the heat shield on, which is always a good thing!

might be better off getting it all done at once to save some dosh. yeah the heat shield fits fine except for that bottom bolt, just need to manipulate it as you slide it on, they should do all that for you though. and thats enough out of you luke:P

To save money ... you less mufflers ... like me.
Only one "small" muffler at the rear ... and that's it.

I like.

Still not as loud as I was first expecting ... but when in the car for long periods ... and being an auto ... it's loud enough really.

Aftermarket cam really makes it lope/throb at idle too

I was tempted with the idea of relocating the muffler (getting a smaller one) ... and just dumping the end of the exhaust just over the axle and hiding it totally.

Sound might be interesting as well.

Now to try and find where I can refit the muffler ... there's bugger-all room underneath between the tanks.
