Exclamation Project V8 Cortina

Hi all, I'm new to these forums and also new to this sort of project.

I have a English Assembled Mk4 1977 Cortina. Orginally with the 2.0L SOHC Engine. I'm wanting to use a 302 Cleveland (since the engine was given to me).

What list of parts would I need to make this conversion happen, i.e what size diffs, what sort of suspension parts.

Is it possible that a conversion kit exists for this sort of thing, since I've heard it has been commonly done?

Thanks in advance. :

The cleveland is too big. Unfortunately you would be better off with the 302 windsor. If you get an early windsor (260 or 289), they have a 5 bolt pattern bell housing which uses a smaller bell housing and is easier to fit in the trans tunnel.

If you are going manual, a borg warner should be strong enough in the Cortina and will save you weight and space. Likewise the 6 cylinder diff should be strong enough if you drive it with a little respect. Wherever possible, try to save weight and space.

Finally, use the 6 cylinder bulge bonnet to give you room for the carbi and aircleaner. Done well, it should fly, even in relatively standard form.
