Default Will this work on my AU I6? (Crane MSD ignition setup)

Hi All,

Pretty sure the answer's no here, but I have it lying around, so thought I should check.

I have a Crane Fireball Hi-6 Ignition system and I'm wondering if this will work in my AU. It was previously in an EL Falcon (single coil application).

I know that with the AU being a multi coil setup, obviously the LX92 coil pictured won't be of any use in the AU (multi-coil), but even after searching the Crane website, I can't quite establish if I can actually use the Hi-6 Ignition system.

I normally view such things as useless in a modern multi coil equipped car, but since I have it lying around, I thought I'd at least give it a try if it's able to be used.

Thanks,

Justin.

I wouldn't think you'd notice much of a gain from just upgrading the ignition system. Usually these systems are reserved for big power/boosted applications?

Yeah, I'm not expecting any difference at all actually, but thought that since I have it, I may as well give it a go if it fits, and then I'll probably flog it off, or hide it in the shed for that old-school project that I have in my dreams!

When I saw this thing in my EL, I thought to myself, what kind of person spends hundreds and hundreds on a hipo ignition system for a basically stock EL 6.

Actually, now that you mention it, that's exactly what he was planning. He already had the turbo kit too.

I dont think it is suited to the au six cylinder as we have multiple coil packs.

the AU with it's coil packs use 3 chanels for coil signal so if there was any chance it would work you would need 3 of them
