funny you say that actually. i am aussie as far back as the convicts days and only 18 yet i grow a mean beard in no time. i went from melb to queensland at the end of last year and managed a few funny looks.
i didnt even need the turban. i however was probably wearing a black hoodie with black hat and half the time dark black glasses but hey :P

as for you. wtf did he do wrong.
it is stupid that people cant even say the word bomb near an airport these days without getting evil looks and being tackled to the ground.

i understand it can be touchy for some people but come on its a word. good chance if you are gana bomb a plane you wont be talking about it infront of everyone before you get on the plane.
plus airports basically allways bring up the topic.

Bah phycho airline.

I think everyone should have a spoon full of concrete and harden the **** up.

The shirts funny and the airline just overreacted, probably in order to cover its arese if some goodie goodie has a winge. Personally id be more wooried about dodgy Aircraft maintanance or getting poisoned with the food than a guy wearing a humorous shirt if i was on that plane.

I rekon a shirt with **** on it is more offensive! (SEE, even the computer thought it was offensive ..... supposed to be the FC*K brand)

If it said "I am a terrorist and I have a bomb strapped to me" It may be a bit different ....... or you are a really stupid terrorist! I suppose many are cos they only get to do it once!

Totally over reaction and a very funny shirt! I have seen way worse but airlines can refuse you boarding cos you have BO so what the hey!

Simple it. Its not an offensive shirt. Unless you're a window licking boyscout?

Seems to me that Gammaboy did the right thing and behaved sensibly under the circumstances. It's unfortunate that our way of life has changed and airlines feel compelled to enforce such rules but that's the way it is.
After the world trade centre attacks airlines are still VERY nervous and it's easier to deal with any percieved threat on the ground than in the air.
I have seen people dragged out of international departure lounges for making jokes about bombs and there are now signs warning not to do so at the check in lines.
Yes, the steward was probably over reacting, but you aren't likely to win an argument with him so the choice is to take off the tee shirt or drive home from Adelaide if you feel that strongly about your right to free speech.
And if you were in the land of "free speech" you probably would have been dragged off by a jumped up security guard with a gun for an interrogation for wearing the shirt in the front door of the airport.

Regards,
Tote

I remember watching that airport show and two friends were about to board a plane and one joked and said to the hostee that his mate had drugs, the hostee told the pilot and the pilot booted them both off the flight.

Regarding the T shirt, getting back on track , it boils down to time, place and circumstance.
It's a bit like wearing a sheet over your head with eye holes cut out to a Soul Brothers convention, you're going to get a big can of whoop arrrse opened on you.

Not their job.

They're in the 'check in' union not the 'I failed a police exam and had to settle for security' union

I personally don't find it offensive , but I'm afraid to say this is only going to be the "Tip Of The Iceberg" . If it's an Internal or International flight , ALL the rules will apply . A relative has worked for Qantas for 15 years told us this recently , and my daughter got a job there only last week and the depth of her security check and interview was incredible .(Rules & Regulations)

If Australia doesn't keep up with the rest of the world , we'll get left behind . Free Speech is slowly being eroded , the world is changing so don't expect it to get any better . The Aussie way of life and humour just isn't what it was , what one person finds amusing , another doesn't , look at the last 10 -15 years . Just like the road rules , they have to allow for the "lowest common denominator" ( 20 y/o crapmobile and/or corresponding driver ) even though many cars and drivers can handle a more refined rules .

Pity because it's the best country in the world , but we're not isolated anymore .

Just like Technology , you've got to be "up there with the rest".
