Yes. As long as lights still operate, number plate is displayed and there are no sharp protrusions at the front of the vehicle.

Mad Max drove around for the almost the entire second movie without a front bar. MFP didn’t hassle him.

My brother drove around for 2 weeks without his front bar.. He had the number plate displayed on the dash (which we thought was dodgy) but when he was pulled over he had letter from the repairers stating what they were doing and how long approximately it was to take..
The officer that pulled him over seemed ok with it and just reminded him to drive sensibly.. Speak to your local Police and get their opinion, after all they are the ones that will be pulling you over if it isn't acceptable.

It is not road worthy to drive a vehicle on the road without a front bumper. Most cars are designed so that the front bumper is rounded and does not have any sharp protruding edges so in the event of a collision with a pedestrian injury is minimized. This is the defect.

Poll shows 4 out of 13 people don't know the law.
As Redrum said, it is illegal. However if you prove the bumper is off to be repairered, the the vehicle is being used for shopping/work, etc then the officer should let you off.

I agree it is illegal - but all the same I dont think you would get booked as long as you were nice and explained the situation.
Having said that I wouldnt risk it - imagine if you were unlucky enough to hit a pedestrian or be in a major collision causing injury to someone during this time. They could probably sue you for gross negligence for everything you own...

The risk is your vehicle is "defective" and by knowingly driving it you may not be covered by insurance.
Hit the back of the old beetle - so what, but he hit a Merc, who hit a beamer who hit a bentley - you have to pay for the lot. OK I know the vehicle line up is unlikely but a four car on any expressway is quite common. Is it worth the expense, hire a car the the days you need.
