After always picturing my ute lowered, then my eyes readajusting to the 4wd height that it is, Ive decided its time to lower the ute. Alot of people have king springs, so Im guessing there the best? Are Lovells springs any good?
Comments. queries welcome.... |

My sister is the export manager for King Springs so I got some custom springs made up that are now a stock item. I dont know what they call them, I just gave them two requests. a.go as low as you can. b. I was prepaired to lose carrying capacity in order to maintain ride comfort.
What they came up with for the rear leaf springs was one extra leaf, but each leaf was one mm thinner. They tell me it would not loose carring capacity, which doesnt bother me as all my ute carries is cartons of beer, however towing a car from Brisbane to Gold Coast, with the car lowered even further in the rear, the tailshaft rubbed against the plasti fuel tank wearing a hole in it. However it does look awesome, scrapes its bum everywhere, and the ride is fantastic |

I'd love to run my ute on bags ... but I doubt it could handle the weight I chuck on the back all of the time.

They handle the weight better than springs - that's why they are so popular on 4WDs that are used for towing all the time. Air adjustables - MAJIC!!

Hmmmm .... wonder how much adjustment there is in the polybags.
And if it can be used on the front as well as the rear. Interesting indeed

have got kings in the front of my ute and got the rears reset to match. Drives and handles great and doesn't look like a 4WD with the 18's on!! I'll try to post some pics if i can work out how...

If you do your research you will find polybags are meant to be used as a supplement to traditional mechanical suspension for the purpose of maintaining ride height while loaded. ie. towing. I used to own a TJM franchise and fitted many of these... they do NOT raise or lower the vehicles ride height. They do however do a very good job of their intended purpose.

no worries, hope my attaching skills are better! I think the front dropped about an inch roughly but i had to get the rears reset about 45mm lower to be level (utes are all tail high). honestly, it's the best lowered car i've had clearance wise (getting through spoon drains, etc), nothing has bottomed out (as yet).

hey D1xrsC, you can put srings on the front but on the back you have to use lowering blocks or just get your leaf springs reset..

Just wondering as there are no side skirts/rear pods on it. Bloody nice anyway. Mine has similar clearance at the front ... but I run 17"s ... and the rear is slightly higher (for load carrying) ... I only dropped mine 1.5". I wanna lower it more ... but I still manage to scrape in a few places as it is (some loading docks are nightmares).

What a bugger about my skirts ... other than that ... damn clean ute.
U wanna debadge mine as well ... some I can get rid of ... others I can't. Adam at AWC can organise you some SIII XR skirts to finish the look off.
