Default Mondeo broken into, alarm does not go off

Recently, my 08 Mondeo Zetec parked across my driveway was broken into. Some low lifers had smashed the driver's side window and made off with a few valuables. What was surprising (apart from the smash and grab) was that the Mondeo made zero noise. I seem to remember locking myself in the car and trying to open the door automatically set up the alarm in the past. I have tried it now, single lock, open from inside, door opens easily, no alarm going off. Double lock, can't open from the door and still no alarm (expected).

Is there away I can re-enable the alarm? Car always log book serviced and with Ford Dealership bar the last service (which was also a log book service at Kmart auto). I am guessing someone inadvertently disabled the alarm during one of the car services. Very hard to say which one.

Luckily I double lock the car as a rule and the geezers could not open other doors and rummage thoroughly through the car after smashing the the window. However, if the car had made the right noise as it should have, it might not have saved the window but would have scared them off.
