The question revolves around which way you want the 'read threads/posts' to work. Option 1 is the old way where they are considered to be read after a certain time (7 days) or after you have spent a certain amount of time in a forum session. The plus side is it requires no action on your part while the down side is that you actually can't use the new posts button unless it is the first thing you do when visiting. Option 2 is the new way where they are only considered to be read if you actually visit the thread or if you select 'mark all forums read' off the quick links menu. The plus side is that you actually don't miss new threads while the downside is that you have to actually manually mark all read ore they stay unread. This can also optionally be set to automatic or manual (it is currently auto). There is some discussion on the issue in this THREAD for those unsure about what has changed. Cheers Russ
