A classic of Australian motoring met a fiery end yesterday as a vintage Holden Kingswood caught fire on the Ipswich Motorway at Goodna.

Weekend motorists watched the blaze that caused police to block off two lanes of the motorway.

Camira firefighters attended the fire but were unable to establish its cause.

Firefighters said the driver had noticed smoke coming out near the gear lever and pulled over, getting his family out of the vehicle before it went up in flames.

No one was reported injured by the fire, but paramedics attended the incident.
