Default Rules at the lights :)

Let's set the scene. You are in the left lane and in the right lane, the ricey doofa guy pulls up next to you. You look at him and think "could I take him? is it safe? are there any cops around? should I just ignore him?"

The lights go green and you decide, yeah what the hell. Put your foot down, change through the gears.

Ok now STOP right here... what are the rules? In my mind, the first one in front who reaches the speed limit is the winner, the one who continues on over it is a loser (specially if he can only get past you once you've hit the speed limit and eased off).

I have a trick where I look look around at the scenery while waiting for the light change, and YAWN, seeming very disinterested, like I don't even notice him. He looks at my poor old rolla with contempt... and he wonders if he should even bother trying cos I'm not really a challenge hehehehe. And then I flog his butt but ONLY UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT. I make it look like it was easy, that I didn't even notice he was trying, and that I wasn't even aware of what was happening

I'm not saying I do it much at all, just wanted to know what other people thought the "rules" are.
