FCA Australia Pty Ltd — 2011-2014 (LX) Chrysler 300 and 2012-2014 (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee
PRA No. 2017/16284 Date published 12 Sep 2017 Campaign number T36 Product description 2011-2014 (LX) Chrysler 300 and 2012-2014 (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) and 180 AMP Alternator and 220 AMP Alternator. Identifying features VIN (Vehicle identification number) See attached VIN list Recall T36 Australia VIN list.xlsx (130.81 KB) What are the defects? The alternator of the affected models may experience diode thermal fatigue due to cyclical loads induced by the electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS). What are the hazards? If the diodes fail, the alternator will no longer supply electrical energy to the vehicle. This may lead to the vehicle stalling without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Failed diodes may also develop a resistive short circuit that can result in heat, smoke and/or fire originating within the alternator. What should consumers do? FCA Australia will notify owners of affected vehicles who can then schedule a service booking with their nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge service centre who will carry out the repairs. Supplier FCA Australia Pty Ltd Where the product was sold Nationally Responsible regulator Department of Infrastructure & Regional Development is the responsible regulator for this recall.
