Default Au1 Update

Hi guys, sorry to keep bugging everyone! Will smartlock/smartshield make a difference to a cluster working in a car? My Fairmont is pre-update, ie has smartlock, if i put in a te50 cluster from 6/99 with smartshield will it work, or have any ill effects? Thanks very much again guys, Matt.

An AU3 cluster will not work with an AU2/1 and an AU2 cluster will not work with and AU1, and I think an AU1 will only work with an AU1.

If your cluster has the orange LCD, you can only use an AU1 cluster. If it is a white LCD, I think you can only use AU2/3... not too sure....

***EDIT***

Just re-read my post. Sorry, but I guess I didn't really answer you question... lol

Possibly, but I am guessing you are the first to do this, so you will need to let us know if you get it working.

Alright, well I'll keep everyone posted. I might start a workshop thread on my car actually, I've been doing bits and pieces to it since I bought it a couple of months ago. Mostly thanks to this forum of course, when I bought it I wasn't going to do a thing to it!

Of course....lol.

I reckon every mod that is done to ones cars thanks to these forums, you should donate $5 to the running of the forums - lol.
