Marketed as a performance ute, with the smallest, least powerful engine among its competitors yet the highest price tag.

Maybe Ford realized asking for a high price on release then dropping the price a few months later is not the best marketing strategy.
Worked well selling the Mustang for a reasonable price.

But then again what is the cost for on road costs at this price point?
LCT? GST? Probably be 85 once its all said and done.

I'm predicting this thing will be insane.
Don't let the 'small' 2.0L twin turbo diesel motor fool you, this thing will be a rocket.
And it appears (on paper anyways) that it has received the necessary suspension upgrades too.
Plus it looks pretty cool.
I'm not expecting an F150 Raptor type vehicle by any means (that thing is seriously cool), but I reckon FoA has done a pretty good job with it.

Exactly, just GST wacks it up to $82,489 as a bare minimum.

Until you realise that those 2 litres have almost as much hp and more torque than an XB 5.8

Yes, almost as much as an NA engine designed 50 years ago. And these 50 year old engines still run!

Let’s see if this 2.0 with boost wound up to give it more power even survives the warranty period.

Commercial vehicle's don't incur LCT and GST is included in the price, but onroads/dealer delivery will be 5k? at a guess

Funny how people pick and choose their arguments. Bang on about how people buy these things only to use them on road in the suburbs, so Ford go out and build one that will belt anything out there on a rough dirt track and those same people still aren’t happy.

Racing around on a rough dirt track is an American thing, who does that here? I'll wait until a 4wd-specialist site reviews it. Just because something can go quick on a dirt track doesn't mean it might be any good dragging a camper-trailer around typical Aus tracks

If you don’t like it then don’t buy it. If the majority or buyers don’t race them on dirt tracks and only use them to pick up the kids or go to work then why should anyone here care.

All Ford cares about is if they sell, not if you use them on dirt race tracks. They couldn’t care less if not one of these vehicles saw a spec of dust as long as they sell enough of them.

I dont think it will struggle with a camper trailer, but some of the big off road vans will make it non viable.
I work for caravan dealer and without a doubt the Ranger is the most common tow tug for those seeking the big vans and in particular the off roaders.
I've spoken to a few of the owners and mentioned the Raptor and the common theme is that with only 2.5t capacity it doesn't leave much room, if any, for the extra's that go with travelling the lap in a descent sized off road van and so they bought the more durable Wildtracks etc.

Its true potential is such a niche market.

I’m not sure how large the market is for tarted up expensive utes. At $80K it is bloody expensive for what it is/has. People should not forget that Ford had high hopes on Everest being a run away success...

I guess the biggest question is, selling them at the expense of what, Wildtrack sales?
It will be interesting to see where the numbers fall after the initial orders are filled, if it doesn't increase the monthly figures all they are doing is cannibalising existing Wildtrack sales.

Doubt it, Wildtrak is just transport for most owners, and the Raptor wull be too high (for multi deck) and wide for city carparks.
IMHO it'll be a low volume seller that 4x4 enthusiasts will buy, I think some on here underestimate how much some offroaders spend on their vehicles.

From what I've read, they're not aiming them at the towing market.
The only reason I'd add my concern at the engine size, is having seen how the
smaller Navara engines die.
Will be good to see one in the flesh though, and is a great addition to the lineup.
