I see it more and more every day, it's just too hard to reach for the indicator lever when changing lanes. 10 years ago this wouldn't be seen. Today, however, common place. Have the laws changed? Are people too busy or too important to use a tiny bit of courtesy. If I point this out to someone who has done exactly this, I become the one who is doing wrong. Am I old fashioned? Did they change the law? Some one please tell me whats going on

Plain laziness.... no one cares.
The chances of being pulled over by a police car is minimal. Like everything else everyone gets away with on the roads.

There was recently a roadworks sign put up on the Ipswich Motorway that I thought was humourous:
"Use your indicator and youll receive fewer hand signals." |

I agree standard of driving is slipping with drivers thinking they can weave in and out of lanes without indicating....
Many other actions happen too but one of the worst is general bullying, unless you drive at the speed limit or over, you get abuse hurled at you and aggressive close calls for motorists venting. Another is tailgating, it's all bullying by people who think they have the best car and should be given right of way.... |

To true..
People these days are just; Always in a hurry.. To lazy to indicate.. It is still a legal requirement to indicate when changing lanes. Worst still.. when people indicate, after crossing Half the lane.

I hate the ones that start moving over and then put the blinker on for the slightest flash like it doesnt even do a full flash... whats the point?

i would say it is a similar percentage to 20 years ago when i started driving. for sure some areas may be worse than others, but lack of indicators, not being able to stay in one lane, opening doors into other cars at car parks, not giving way etc. etc. have been around for ever
maybe with more cars on the road, it seems like more are doing it. driving standards have dropped in my opinion, but they were never that high in the first place |

See it quite often.
But IMO its no worse than just about every driver I see, who starts to indicate only when they have commenced to change lanes, not before. No point in indicating then. |

You guys don't realise how hard it is to talk on the mobile AND flick an indicator at the same time.

in and out of lanes around you and then come back and tell me about comfort levels. Or blind as a bat Asians wandering in and out of lanes all over the place.... I found the experience thrilling, scarry and just amazing......I have no fear of Aussie drivers now. |

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. It's surprising how many people care which side the indicator stalk is on, when so few appear to use it.

And here I was thinking that it was some kind of new, cool "invisible" indicator. Where I use my new psychic powers to determine whether or not the braindead husk-of-a-human wants to change lanes......

i think its a optional extra on most euro cars, i followed a X5 BMW and a newer Range Rover and in the 40-50kms i was stuck behind them they didnt you the indicators once. I would of overtaken them but it was a little hard driving in a 3 cyl charade lol

Ive seen a dumb blonde ***** let go of the steering wheel on the M4 for the sake of putting make up while using the mirror in the visor, she almost swerved into my car and we were doing 100km/h......

I use the horn on anyone who turns or changes lanes without indicating......Not sure what rate of use it's rated at, but it may need replacing soon.

In Queensland we have to indicate that we are exiting a round about, even if going straight through. And next to no people do it or they do it wrong. And where i live what is even worse is at every change from two lanes into one, there is always people that cut up past you at the last second before it become's single lane, they never use there blinkers also. This has become abit of a rant. And then the poeple that i despise the most are the one's that pull out infront of you when you are doing 100 km's/hr on the highway slowing you up, to only turn off a couple of hundred meters up the road. I think all decency and respect to other road user has just gone out the window.

On very large roundabouts where you have plenty of time to indicate you must do it. This also applies to turning right...when exiting your must indicate left.
