VFACTS is soo slow but here is some news from around the globe
spain:May car sales fall 38.7 percent, smallest fall since March brazil : Sales rise 5.38 percent in May after April drop * Sales down 0.15 pct in first 5-mo of 2009 vs 2008 Japan: Japan’s largest automaker, led a 19 percent drop in the country’s vehicle sales last month, as falling wages and rising unemployment discouraged customers from visiting showrooms. USA:May new vehicle sales (including fleet sales) are expected to be 890,000 units, a 36.1% decrease from May 2008 but an 8.9% increase from April 2009, according to Edmunds.com, a closely watched company recognized as a leader in auto sector analysis. www.edmunds.com |

I can't remember the figures, but watching from the info I saw yesterday, Ford Australia had quite a good month.

One thing that it does demonstrate is how insignificant AUS sales are compared to the US ....... 925,824 vehicles compared to 75,441. Makes you wonder why some of the manufacturers bother coming here with their product!

The tax rebate seems to be the reason for the good month.

The new Cruze is not what I call a stylish car, but then again people buy the Holden Epica and Captiva, both of which I think are styling disasters.

It looks like Ford are starting to turn things around. Any positive at the moment will surely translate to a bigger positive in the future when the market settles.

All we need is for Falcon to steal another 400 sales from say 100 from Corolla and we'll have a real battle on our hands! PS If you are wondering why Corolla, well lots of them are fleet and Ford targeted them in advertising this month with the LPG Falcon advert!

380 = Goneski% Accord V6 -47.0%. Camry -29.9%. Aurion -16.9% Falcon -14.2% C'dore -12.6% Euro +27.4% Total -20.4%, which means at least Falcon (and C'dore) bettered the segment and overall market. Luckily the Aussie Utes had solid months! NB I realise the Accord Euro & Camry are both 4 bangers and aren't officially in the segment, but they do compete IMO.
