Does anybody know the Kw output of a series three AU XLS ute 5litre V8. I have recently purchased one and would like to know for future mods and the manual gives 4 values from 175 to 220kw can anybody help?

XLS will just have the standard 175kw motor.
that said they have the same heads and intake as the other ones, so fit some 1.7 ratio roller rockers and a nice cam and she'll go really well |

Yep, 175kw.
The difference between this and the AU1 XR8 185kw are tickford extractors and exhaust. Do a search, there are multiple threads on the difference between all 4 different spec AU Windsors (not including T-series, they are different again) Cam, exhaust, and diff gears will make your ute a hell of a lot more fun.

Thankyou for the advice I am new to the site. What sort of exhaust would you recommend. Approximately how much would this cost and would it have any effect on fuel economy?

If there are no plans to change the cylinder heads, then the (Liverpool Exhaust) Hurricane tri-y's with the 1.5" primaries sound like the best way to go.
The rest is personal preferance....a mandrel bent single 3" will work fine, but many prefer the sound of a dual 2.25 or 2.5".

Buddy I had a 175kw 1 tonner and just by putting a sports exhaust on it and driving normally , i got an extra 70k per tank . Mine had the the twisted wedge headers on it(as per factory), they look like they have been run over so I didn't go for extractors ,but after reading the threads, you should go for them if you have the dough..
