A spool or mini spool is fine for the drags, but not an everyday proposition.

I wouldnt do it.
A spool on the street is a silly move, and lethal in the wet. Plus, I think the EL diff is Different to the AU diff? |

a spooled diff is illegal for road use and would be a pig to drive it would skip around corners a spool is only really good for strip use aqs it is a straight line. The 411 gears would give good acceleration but you would need to put a different centre in either a single spinner or better still an LSD also you would need to use your old housing and axles as the AU has a different offset

I've got a single spinner atm...Would the 4.11 gears consume more petrol?

On highway yes, cause you'd be crusing at a higher RPM.
Around town probably not. |

your choice really but the only thing you'll be able to use is the gears (take this into account when considering price) you will use more fuel but the car will go harder off the line

It's a good price for a good setup!
Having said that, I absolutely hate locked diffs in street cars. Having owned one for a short while they are absolutely horrid things to drive. They're a laugh for about the first 5 minutes, and then the rest of the time you're car is a plough understeering, snap oversteering pig of a thing which will destroy rear tyres, destroy your bushes, snap suspension arms and generally turn your car into a P.O.S. I snapped the arms clean off the diff in mine simply trying to do a very wide u turn. I'll say it again, P.O.S! Can you tell I hate locked diffs?

what I did in mine was put in an XR6 non IRS diff that gives you 3.45 gears and LSD launches better and is not over the top you need to replace your speedo gear with a grey one

I had a 4.11 spooled diff in my EA. The 4.11s do somany turns to 1 that they dont skip that much at all compared to a spooled 3.23 that I had in the same car. Fuel consumption increased as much as the leterage per 100km that you normaly get around town, the highway leterage became the same. So for me I was getting 400km to a tank with an engine producing 215kw, with the same engine and standard 2.92 gears I would get 550 odd km to a tank.

they cant be turned off so to speak. it locks under load, either accelerating or de-accelerating.
eg. if your pulling out into a T intersection, if you accelerate in a straight line, its locked, but back off the juice, turn the wheel and roll around its not locked. then back on the juice its locked. but if your parking slowly and you need to accelerate lighty it will lock. Rollin has one. before he converted his car to a manual the other week, his car behaved so good with the auto and a lock-rite. you wouldnt know it had one.
