Education is the best way I can see reducing death tolls. People need it drilled into their minds of the life endangering consequences and the respect for life when driving.

Upping fines is a typical 'knee jerk' reaction as it benefits those dishing out the fines. It doesnt fix the issue and or the way people think of these things. It only causes anger. Its feels as if no one cares.

The tenix corporation is responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all fixed speed cameras in victoria. Guess which greedy multinational corporation gets a slice of that fat wad of cash you have to hand over? You can't put the fox in charge of the chicken coup.

AFTER the NSW election this Saturday, Harold Scruby will set about in his campaign to have my beloved "three x speed camera warning signs", currently posted at 100 metres apart with the first posted 100 metres before the camera proper, removed!

He wants Victorian type camera operation, hidden and stealthed. Its what happens in personal outcome I guess,- when an old, cranky pommy migrant:-) ****ed off at his failing to change the flag (AUSFLAG), and of his failed campaigns against 4WD realities in this country, AND in his ongoing campaigns against motorists leads to bad ideas:-)

He's got a couple of things right though, the 10km/h "shared traffic zones" need to goto 20km/h and be re-named "pedestrian zones".

ANYHOW, the point of our fixed speed camera signs in NSW is to have the devices not be seen as purely revenue raising units.

AND, a key factor; the signs serve to catch INATTENTIVE DRIVERS, albiet using SPEED as the means of doing so.

IF you miss these signs, it can be argued, sometimes, that you were not paying attention, and;- 'at speed', would be particularly dangerous.

To remove the warnings signs would be detrimantal, and NSW will NOT allow this, despite pressure from Scruby and Victorian-based academics. IF they are removed after the next election, they will again be re-instated at the second election from now.

REM it is the NSW Parliament that makes enforceable law, not the roads agency via 'Policy', or its employees personally.
