Went to register the ute we bought from the Auctions last month. It was a repairable write off. Freshwater damage. Drove the ute home. Now Qld Transport say that it has to be inspected by Qld Inspection Service. Apparantley they check your vehicle out to make sure its ok, hit you with a $500.00 bill and your on your way ................Anyone dealt with this mob ??

Ok. Ive dealt with them, but not for Flood damage.
All Written off vehicles need an inspection in QLD before re-registration. For crashed ones, the method is fix it, with all reciepts and VIN numbers for cars used for parts. Get a roadworthy, get the QIS inspection, pay rego and your done. The roadworthy checks for if the car is roadworthy, and basically, all the QIS do is check the VIN numbers and all numbers on your car, to ensure that none of the cars parts you used are off stolen cars, and that your car has not been rebirthed. You also need to take your roadworthy as proof that the car is repaired to a roadworthy level and a Stat Dec stating you own the car, had it repaired here, or there, or by yourself, the cars VIN number etc, and where the parts came from. You pay the money, and thats it, go to the Rego office and get rego. For you, I'd say that you will need a roadie and get them to say that the car is roadworthy with no damage blah blah blah, and your stst dec stating you drove the car home and it ran fine and was not in need of replacement parts.
