Default Battery or Alternator?

Noticed today that the voltage gauge in the ute is a bit all over the place and lower than it should be. I'm seeing the LCD screens dim and they also flash when the indicators are on, so Im wondering if the battery is on the way out. How do I go about making sure it's the battery and not the alternator?

from the description u gave, id be saying the alternator is on its way out. if you dont have a multi-meter, ask ur local auto elec if they can check ur battery and charge rate of the alt.

Oh joy. Im told V8 Alternators are pricey - if you can find one.

I'll have it checked, I have my doubts as to the lifespan of this battery so I'd rather know for sure.

It might only be the voltage regulator contacts, the reg is way cheaper than a whole alternator.
