Default Fastest (un-opened) XR6T in AUST

Last night at WSID a CV PERFORMANCE XR6T went 10.89 @116 mph with a 1.51 60ft,this with a std bottom end which is now the new record for a std motor
1st pass he went 10.9@122 mph and second run he did a 10.89 and blew a intercooler hose just after 3/4 track thus why the mph dropped

i bet its got a huge amount of other mods thou,diff ratio?
multiple fuel pumps,
separate fuel tanks
was that on nitro?

No mate not at all its still std diff ratio,4 speed box only 1 inline fuel pump

No seperate fuel tanks(surge) and no Nitro or Nos

What difference would it make? Any car running these numbers would not pass rego anyway, that argument has been done to death.

It doesn't really matter IMO, we race our daily drivers all the time and to race them at the level we wish to it is easier to prepare them in the workshop and send them up on a trailer so when you get to the track you are relaxed and ready to race. I hate getting there and having to spend an hour or so preparing these cars, different in big time drag racing though.

In the "street car" scene with the ford and holden classes we have opened or unopened categories anyway so it's your choice if you want to strip the car or drive it there and off you go.

It is extremely difficult to run these current model cars down the track with everyday street rubber you really need slicks.

Considering how easy it seems to be to make power on these motors (I have spent less than 1500 on mine and have 249.2rwkw on CV's dyno) I dont think its going to be a power issue to make the 9s.

More someone being prepared to mod the rest of the cars suspension etc (and mandatory safety stuff like putting a big cage in your shiny new falcon.)

i am not so sure-when you say nine you are probaly saying 10' or 9.99!! to get a 9' or a low nine would take more than a roll cage and a few suspension mods!!

Do you have much drag racing experience?may I ask?

Lotto, I dont know where you get a low 9 from, so pull your head in.

When its a big place like CV I doubt they would have to much trouble getting it into the 9s if the owner wanted it (And had the moolah to part with!)

Ive seen pics of the 9 second XR6T but havent seen any specs, anyone know much about it?

The 9 second T was done by HPF (Horse Power Factory). Slicks and front runners, dropped exhaust, interior stripped, 90/10 shockers, C9 3 speed trans, and every conceivable mod possible on the XR6 Turbo I would assume.

the nine second one had standed turbo but was moded, race fuel, standed diff, c9 trany, slicks, front runers, seats out, with race seat,rego'd car but did not drive to the track because of exhaust off, and race fuel,
i think he said the motor had forged pistons, rods, and valve springs,
nizpro plenum, and some other intercooler(big one).
it also ran 2-3 10.1's ithink 1 10.0, and the 9.9, @138mph
it also ran 144mph on one pass, but this was out of the blue, and was never close to that again, ithink it was 420rwks, and a heap of torque.guy's name was adam,

9.94 @137.4mph race trim still standed Ba internals. (race fuel this time)
9.43 @ 146.38 mph built motor.

BF seem to hold for up to 330/340 rwkw, some are running 400+ rwkw with factory springs.
The poor old BA XR6T got a raw deal, they need a change from around 270 rwkw.

And if they used BF springs it would not be an issue as then it could be seen as a reliability upgrade by using stock springs, albeit from a leter model, but still stock factory springs. By replacing with aftermarket springs it is undoubtedly performance over reliability.

And gurujosh, you don't necessarily need to manually up the boost to increase the performance of a turbo, free up the intake and exhaust just like any other car, the difference is that you feel it so much better in a T.

so if you burnout a cat converter-would you put a factory one back in or replace it with a better one,and when you need to replace spark plugs would you put the factory ones back in,or replace with better ones?its like anything ,not just cars,when you replace something ,why would you replace it with the sames if there is a better or m,ore advanced product out there??

the list could go on,and you could talk about any brand of car that has a part which is a weakness,whether it be suspension,body ,interior or engine you would always replace with better ,not in every instance because someone wants to go quicker!!

steriods are banned- but there are other performance enhancing products out there which still come in under the anti-doping system-so why would you take a panadol if you could take a special vitamin with a lot more positives??

Lotto, the claim was not about the exhaust system, if it had been claimed to be a stock exhaust I would have gone down that path even to the point of asking if the cat had been gutted or even on the car at the time.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the achievement made by the boys, I am simply asking for clarification on the terminology used in the description of the vehicle at the time the run was made.

Mate for all you know I may be looking to build the fastest and quickest F6 in the country so all I'm trying to do is understand what is and what isn't accepted as stock.

Oh ye and Lotto, and anyone else that wishes to keep arguing for that matter, the issue is with the title of the thread which claims an "un opened" title, I am simply trying to establish what is to be considered as un opened.

It was only last year that Chris from Bluepower got drilled about the fact that he had taken the covers off to have a play with the cams, he didn't replace them with better later model ones simply dialled them to his own spec, but to all that were "in the know" this was considered opened.

firstly i am not arguing,but your posts seem to contradict each other as the one i have attached above' opposses what you say below? so i think you are looking for an argument ,sorry you wont get one from me.

But i will say in response to your first post that a lot on non turbo owners have a jealous streak towards them,because with a few tweaks that you can get them going very quick as opposed to a xr8 which needs a lot more money spent!!
