When I was 16 my old man picked up a Ford Escort in good nick for free off someones lawn who didn't want it. I lovingly did it up in the garage for a few months. One day whilst I was at school my older brother swapped my Escort for a wheelie bin as he was building a new house and didn't have one.

End pointless story...

i got a good old datsun parts car for $30 off the same guy i got my datsun paddock bomb off for $200. it wouldent have taken much to get it back on the road but at the time i was no where near having a license and didnt want a datsun anyway so it became my next victim.

Baught a comira with fule...

Your $50 would have been better spent on some typing lessons and a dictionary :

The cheapest car I have ever bought was my GXL actually. $2200 with 12 months rego in '92. Haven't stopped spending money on it since (big money pit) but more satisfying than pouring money and interest payments into new cars that are depreciating in value. It has outlasted, XDs, EAs, EFs, AUs and turns more heads than any of them. When I got it it was just "one of those cars that old Greek men drive", according to the GF of the day, it's outlasted most of them too, and her, and a few others.

My first car was a hand me down from dad, I expect it would have cost about 4K if I had bought it.

Mine was a red BMW 528i with a great exhaust system and an M5 gearbox and LSD- all for the princely sum of 60 quid...it cost me a further 180 quid to get it roadworthy but it happily got up to 145mph without difficulty! Bang for buck- can't get better than that!

I sold her 3 years later for 200 quid with a rooted gearbox (dirt track driving!)

Must be common. My mate got his "88 magna for a slab. The only thing wrong with it was the timing chain.

The cheapest car I've bought was my first car, a 302 XA coupe for $1800 sold as traded from a car yard. Although technically I didnt buy it, thats what parents are for. The cheapest car I payed for with my own money was a GXL for $2500. I then sold it 6 months later for $1600. Not my best financial decision.
