Default FORD mules in the Alice.

Hi all, just got back from the local ford dealer here in the Alice. Had a long chat with the service manager. He said that ford are testing their new large car here at the moment. They are towing their dyno trailers up and down the hwy during the heat of the day. I know the hotel where these guys stay so I wil sluething around their with my trusty camera.

Photo's will be $5.00 each.

Just kidding.

You do realise that they now know you are hunting them and will be extra sneaky.

If you get decent pics that would make you the biggest legend in the entire world, you do realise that don't you?

They would have to be, a few handful of orions have been built so far and the FEU's wont be on the road till later on, unless some of the fully bra'd up ones are going out early for the outback

I’ll come up and give you a hand if you like. I’m an expert at getting bras off.

Is this going to end up like that thread about this guy buying the supposed nice X-series for $1000 that had been sitting in a shed that was immaculate ... when for 50 pages and no pics.

Subscribing to thread for amusement value ... :hihi:

If they really were Orions (and not BF mules) then I highly doubt they'd park them overnight in a Hotel carpark.

Think safe warehouse/garage somewhere. I too doubt they've made it out to the desert yet, I thought they're still crashing the poor things.

Time will tell..... I will try and track these guys down tomorrow. They are not usually hard to find, with those dyno trailers with the yellow flashing lights and all. I have never seen car manfacturers hide the cars away other than rite down the back of the parking lot at the Crowne plaza hotel.

I will do my best. I want to see these things as well.

About 12 months before territory was released I saw 3 of them parked in a canberra hotel car park, where I was staying. They were accompanied by BMW M5 Honda MDX anda about 4 other 4WD.

They had no badges and blankets over the interior, anda few details like the head/tail lights etc werent there (just screwed on trailer lights). The ford blokes were staying in the hotel. I met them in the hotel bar, they had FOMOCO folders and were doing paper work when I met them, and were very open about the car when i approached them.

They asked me not to take pics, tho I pointed out that they were in a public place and I couldnt help it if their cars got in the way of my photos. But they were decent blokes, so i didnt take pics, tho i did get to crawl all over territory.

SO yes there is a good chance you will find Orion in a hotel car park somewhere. Keep eyes open!

I saw the territory here about the same time, i remember looking in through the window and thinking they've stolen the falcon's interior for this import car. They brought the Porsche Caynene through here too, Germans don't like people taking photos.

If it was on a public road/place you can tell them to stick it! Take all the pictures you want (just don't touch the car or block it etc) and theres nothing they can do about it - provided it's on public roads.
