That's the best problem to have.
theboss290, the other options are the piggybacks, but I haven't heard of anyone going that route now the edits are here. Your choice of tuner if probably the main thing you need to consider. Chat to a few, research feedback from various tuners through this site and get a feel for seems to be on the ball, not to mention pricing. Factor in the cost of re-tunes too, some are more generous when you re-tune with new mods than others.

I've also had mine for over a year now with no problems whatsoever ... unless you call having more mid range torque and lower fuel consumption an issue.

More power, better economy, better idle, faster top speed. It's all good!
Shop around before you take the plunge. Find somebody who has a good reputation and doesen't talk crap.

The only problem I had with my edit was the price! But a smile still exists well after the money had been spent!

Ive had 3 tunes. Unichip..which felt ok and 2 edit tunes by 2 different tuners. The 2 edit tunes feel different to each other. The last one is very good. My only advice is get it tuned in summer .A perfect tune in winter is different to summer. A summer tune done in summer and seperate one in winter is ideal.
The only gripe I have is the lack of user adjustability.

The only problem I have with my edit is the result was not as good as I expected. That said though, it sh!ts all over the Unichip.

Well no real negative feed back so I guess I will go for one just need to find a tuner in S.A. that knows what they are doing.

I know what you mean about the probalems. I've heard about people who's cars shudder, or almost stall. Thanks for starting this thread I really want to get a tune to. Also is a custom tune really worth it? what do they do that is different to the generic tunes? |

Look to be totally honest Im not at all happy with the result of my edit, but it has nothing to do with the process itself, it is the tuner. I know my car has a lot more in it and I just need to get it redone by somebody else. But in regards to whether custom tunes are worth it, the answer is 99 times out of 100 a resounding yes. Personally I wouldnt even consider a "shelf" tune - the whole point of editing the car is to get the very best from it, and the only way you will do that is to tune the individual car for its individual mods etc. The only time you would have a problem with the edit is if the tuner is not up to scratch, and as I said above, thats not a problem with the process or the device.

Yes, I believe they are just ironing out a few issues with them. Give CAPA a call and see where they are at with it.

im another one that hasn't had an issue ... Daniel, speak to joe, he'll sort you out!!
John: cutom is better, but cost's more, they do fuel mapping, and run different things ... whereas a generic one is all preset!!

depending on fuel quality mine pings sometimes on my 98tune so you can really tell your dodgy servos to your quality ones. only real problem ive got, oh and as soon as a tune is changed is hunts in the rev range for a while sometimes stalls when clutch is fully engaged for stopping. this stops after about 350-400km's

only issue i've had with mine is it sometimes shudders like it's going to stall (auto) when slowing down for lights etc...
i've even returned it stock tune atm.. and it still does it... but even back on the factory tune the car seems to run heaps better then before i flashed it... wierd... my car is dead stock tho.. and just using generic tunes... i got the tuner so that i can get custom tunes for mods later on.... |
