I reckon after the world cup you will have a flood of players move on...

Mcgrath, Warne, Langer, Hayden, and i would suggest Gilchrist as well may move on after the world cup... next summer will look completely different...

Hope the ***** does retire.

Yes I know he's the greatest bowler ever - that I dont doubt. But all that went out the window in my eyes after his comments durring the third Ashes towards the english batsman on strike. The commentators were just as shocked, and even commented on how the person Warne was dirrecing the abuse at was the most mild mannered, polite person to ever play the game. He just stood there and took it. Commentators went to say how they've never even heard this batsman say anything when he fields and is good friends with quite a few guys from the aussie team.

There was no need for it, and was very very offensive - IIRC Warne dropped a catch in the slips soon after?

And ofcourse the "mummy gave me the pills" farce - I'm a Kiwi, but I highly respect current Aussie players like McGrath and Hussey. So I'm not Aussie bashing, im bashing Warne.

Can't wait to see him gone.

I hope he dosen't....like a good wine he seems to get better with age! I do however think Glen will retire as he past his best (still a legend though) and also unless he's pushed first Hayden will go too...his opening partner is also on shakey ground...

Being Indian, I do!

But being born and bred in NZ I support NZ as much. I'd rather watch the Ashes then the boring as sin Sri Lankian tour we have here at the moment.

Okay I just realized what you meant, bite me : haha

Oh and I forgot Gilchrist - The best player to ever play the game. Batsman/Keeper and the most honest sportsman ever.

Who can say that about Warne?

Darren Berry was a better keeper, it's just that Gilchrist can bat out of his skin on 90% of his appearances at the crease Berry couldnt bat for sh@t

He won't retire, he was quoted as saying when asked about the 700 wicket mark "what about 800". That and everyone else in the team is saying how much he is loving the game atm.

So long as he can bowl like he is, and with everything he brings to the game, let him bowl till he's 80 if he wants

I don't give a stuff what he does off the field, and neither do most of the fans who enjoy watching him bowl. Besides, that is part of what is "Shane Warne". There's a reason Alpha voted him the greatest ever Australian sportsman, and it's because of what he has done in sport.

I love the guy as a cricketer, he might be a ******** in real life, but I don't sit on the couch and turn the TV on to watch him reading a book at home, do I :P Unfortunately, there'll never be another Shane Warne, and cricket will loose just a little bit of itself when he retires, and I know I'll love watching it for as long as I do, but I'll enjoy it just that little bit less.

[edit] just read this: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=173292 say it aint sooo Warney!!!!

The poll at the top only has a yes / no answer.

You forgot, who cares.

700 wickets my fat ar$e... How many wickets has he taken since he was banned for doping? That is the figure that should be in the record books.. Any other sportsman is stripped of his achievements once they are found to be cheating..

Cricket bores me , but I dislike the obnixious pr|ck more

Then Kelly should hand the trophy and title to CL! LOL!

Sorry, I'm just not quite over it yet! :

If I was Warne, I'd retire, taking the 700th wicket, and gaining back the Ashes, very, very good note to finish on, almost impossible to top I'd say.

Unless you're Mutiah Muralitharian then they'll change the law twice just to suit you and then allow you to break it anyway...

I think he will retire - and I also think he was one of the greatest bowlers of all time. What he did off the field was/is absolutley no-ones business but his own.
