Default 220 broken valve spring

hey boys sounds like every1's 220 eating poo at moment :
Mine started running rough on sunday..I carried out the normal tests and came to the conclusion it was a mechanical failure..I pulled the rocker cover off the left bank tonite and found i have a broken or weak valve spring on no 8 exhaust valve..Obviously this is a common fault
Im planning on just replcaing that one by having air injected through spark plug hole to keep valve up and removing and replacing with valve spring tool..
My questions are wot is the availabilty on these do most dealers stock them? Are they off a diferent strength to standard?
And i found mine has Yellaterra rockers are these factory?

cheers

yella terra rockers are not not standard.
you can purchase the spark plug air fitting from coventry's and you could also get the above head spring compresser from coventry's/repco.. its pretty easy to do mate. u dont have a problem. just dont drop the collets when u take them off

YT rockers are standard on the 220kw XR8 engines.

The spark plug fitting will be less than $10, and the "on head" valve spring compressor about $30...its pretty easy to change using this method.

I would question the value of only changing a single spring though..?

How did you come to the conclusion the spring on #8 exh is "broken or weak"..?

Not good Mr T, sounds like a few 220's are falling over atm, drive one myself so fingers crossed.

As XR8Ute has pointed out YT's are factory standard on these ones.

Good luck with it, hope you are back on the road soon.

Something about these 220's especially manuals that us owners probably agree on, they are like a cranky child, moody with bad manners but utterly loveable.

Now I feel like heading out to the garage and giving mine a hug :
