Default Emo/Screamo/Punk vs Metal/Death/Black

Just wondering what everyones varied opinions are on emos and the like. Do you prefer listening to emo music like The Used, atreyu etc etc, or perhaps you like a bit of the death/black metal such as Behemoth, Cannibal corpse? Personally I dont much like screamo, more into the heavier stuff. What about you?

Sorry, lost me... I'm still stuck in the 80's.

(When did everyone decide that all my favourite songs crossed the line into "classic rock" anyhow????)

Mate were just getting old, in our day we had
ELO ( electirc light orchestra ) and now the kids have
EMO, a bit like like a model update on a ford and it went from a L series to a M series.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA-

Mudvayne, Static-X and Disturbed are NOT Death metal.

Bands like:

Death
Morbid Angel
Deicide
Obiturary
etc are Death Metal.

i wouldnt call Opeth "wannabe black metal" at all.

Progressive Death metal perhaps.

But Dani Filth can go screw himself. i cant stand CoF either.

Anyway, all thats been covered.

i LOVE my heavy metal. all of it. from power to death to black to whatever. but especially thrash.

but on that note, i dont mind some screamo/hardcore bands either. like Atreyu, some of their stuff is real heavy and technically proficient. but some is CRAP. i LOVE Sunk Loto. well done for an Aussie band.

GOLD. He is a little punk hey.

Emo, we shouldnt worry ourselves with them. The vast majority will get to a point where they confirm that their "abyss" they call life is as "dark" and "cold" as they would hope it would be and top themselves in a pathetic manor such as wrist slashing. However most will mostlikly screw even this up.

If you want to go Mr/Mrs Emo, do it properly head but the curb.

lmao Disturbed, Mudvayne and Static X are death metal? Maybe, if you're listening to Austereo.

Emo and all sub genres are annoying as hell. It's just a fad, I'm sure it'll be dead soon enough.

I can't wait till emo dies, dies a painful death, then all the little emo-nites will have large holes in their ears and they'll either be able to afford surgery to correct this or live a life with nasty mongulated ears, forever reminded of their silly silly decision.

And for effs sake, pull up your freakin pants. Jeez!

Emo must die, along with metalcore, nu-metal and all the other rubbish with 'metal' in the genre label that clearly isn't...

I'd go heavy metal, followed by Emo, followed by death. I dont mind any of them, but prefer plain heavy metal.

Opeth Wannabe Black Metal?

Opeth isnt Black Metal, and they arent trying to be. Opeth are progressive Death metal. Opeth have melodic and progressive sound which is different from your black metal.

Getting back on topic I listen to metal over the emo stuff, and it is a fad, hopefully one which will fade very soon, and lets pray the next fad is easier to live with.

I wish my Grass was emo, then it would cut itself.....

Emo, Metal, whatever....if its a good song, no matter what genre, i'll listen to it. But I dont get is, wasnt the emo style/dress sense invented so people (emo's) could be different? Now look....almost everyone these days are emo....defeats the purpose.

People interpret alot of music as emo which isnt the case.
Lately im into a whole lot of hardcore, but still enjoy listening to
the occasional emo/screamo.
Overall i will listen to anything as long as its good.

At the moment I'm pretty much Listening to any metal but obviously I prefer to listen to death, but to vary it up some Killswitch engage and static x and such is good to. Just depends what mood i'm in and what I feel like listening to.

I myself hate emo, and emo to me is like simple plan. I like metal, which sounds good, though metal can vary a lot. I like bands such as stonesour, slipknot, bullet for my valentine, chevelle, metallica etc. but i despise bands such as lamb of god and crap like that which isnt music but just screaming.

Yes you may say, but slipknot is screaming, its way different. Take a band like Trivium for example, awesome music, awesome choruses, but the rest of the song is usually unrecognisable screaming :| (except for Dying in your arms, awesome song).

Death to emo, long live metal :sm_headba
