Worse. They can't climb vertically and often takeoff with derated thrust and a noise abatement climb, something you don't have to worry about!

Ok, then lets just say I rarely drive my car and when I do its usually hard. Last tank of fuel (about 63 litre fillup) lasted 312kms.. but damn it was fun.

NB: that was NOT at the drags... at the drags a tank would never get close to lasting that long.

I'm guessing 20l/100kms is about average for me.. but I enjoy every minute of it.

Well if you can afford to drive it like you stole it then why not. As long as you can control it and be sensible in a rev-head manner i cant see anything wrong with 20l/100km.

g'day guys

my car:

2001 xr6 auto ute
164000km's

fuel consumption:
18-20lt's 100kms

on the high way (on the way home from buying it) it said that i would be getting around 600 + out of the tank.

my thoughts are that it is running rich. will change thermostat, coolent temp sensor adn oxy sensor.

the ute temp is sitting RHS of the 'N' in the temp gauge. is that too cold??

thank mike

From then too now, changed plugs and leads, cleaned air filter (needs doing again), and I get an average of 11.1 everyday driving, 9 on the freeway, and 13 in the city. Not too bad considering its over 200k's old.
I get 620-650 every week out of the tank.

I have just calculated mine. It turned out to be 12.48 L/100 km. However that included a fair bit of city driving. And a bit of a work out.

Normally it is around the low 11s.

AUIII XR6 - 11.3, about 550kms per tank, city driving,

AU's are pretty good on fuel economy, way better then any falcon before it, and still better then BA's

How many litres did it take you to fill up?

You get the L and divide it by the kms, then divide it by 100.

so that would be 58/450=0.12888*100 which means i got aprox 12.9L/100kms

Wow, i must be a baaad throttle jockey.

Around town i get 19L/100klms on gas (no stepper motor, just a straight through)

and combined city/highway i get 17L/100klms

dunno about straight highway.

I don't quite flog the crap out of it, but i certainly don't drive with economy in mind. Stuff economy. If i wanted economy i'd have stuck with the Toyota Corolla's.

But hey, i still do $9/100klms anyway. Who cares how you drive or what economy you have, it's gas!
