Old topic. If you look through the archives it's well documented. One of the most frugal V8's going around with a manual box that is.

XR8 220 kw
City Cycle:
Manual 14.96 L per 100k
Auto 15.26

Highway:
Manual 8.92 L per 100k
Auto 9.05
(All Premium unleaded)

Straight from the Series III Specifications Brochure.

As for accuracy, my series II XR8 ute (manual) had a fuel consumption sticker on the screen which stated 13.5 L per 100k combined and that's exactly what I got out of it with normal daily driving.

Is premium unleaded 95 recommended or can you just us unleaded 91 Octane?

The series 2 & 3 both require premium unleaded (pulp) of at least 94 ron (caltex vortex).

95 RON = 95 Octane.

Caltex has the lowest spec premium (94), but it is still fine for the AU2/3 XRs. You ***can*** run on standard ULP, just throttle gently and don't rev too hard, this will help to avoid pinging.

Do not use reqular unleaded, at a minimum premium unleaded, I get anywhere from 8-9 ltr's on the hwy and from 14-16 in town, but with a heavy foot those fiqures are out the window
